Are Newcastle still in a finals chance?
Yes, but it's a tough path. If they won all their remaining games, they would finish on 46 points. They have 8 games remaining, 6 of which are against teams directly above them. So they have the opportunity to take 18 points from those teams and close the gap. Not an impossible task, but definitely hard.

Are Newcastle still in a finals chance?

I'm going to say no, which is a shame as they are in great form.

Sydney will scrape in, so the question is who drops out. Would need to have a proper look at the run home.

Wild guess, all 3 Melbourne teams will make it so either WSW or Adelaide will drop out.

3 vs 6 City vs Victory
4 vs 5 WSW vs Easts!

Great first week of finals!

Perth Glory v Brisbane Roar is now on 10 Bold this Saturday Night as the 2nd game of Saturday Night doubleheader (following Western Sydney Wanderers v Melbourne Victory).

As a result of Sydney FC v Wellington Phoenix has been moved to Sunday 7.00pm (is no longer on 10 Bold) from the original Saturday 5.00pm timeslot due to Sydneyโ€™s involvement in ACL Two quarter final second leg on Thursday Night.

Football Tonight is now from 6.30pm (not 7.00pm).

Cant see Wellington beating SFC this week, we have been so poor all over the park - the season is pretty much over for us.
We do have a good record against SFC but i feel whether SFC win or lose there ALC 2 game they will be up to smashing Nix of the park.

This weekend has 4th v 6th and 5th v 8th, so some teams will drop points. The problem is that the Jets need to keep winning. Under such circumstances picking up a net 10 points will be a bridge too far I think, as much as I'd like them to sneak in the Finals.

I was going to say Adelaide United because they have a recent history of fading late in the season, but I just took a quick look at their draw and it looks pretty sweet. The bottom would have to fall out for them to miss.

I would really piss myself laughing if it was WSW. And it could happen if they lose to us this week.

Melb Victory v Mariners 3-0 home win
Plus Miranda likely to get a red card at any moment of any game

He's actually been ok/lucky this season. I get what you are saying though, he definitely takes risks and I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he copped a red. In general MV have been pretty good when it comes to cards. Teague has the highest number of yellows with 3.
Looking at the stats, these players are all on 4 yellows. Could see some suspensions over the next few rounds.

Machach and Miranda have both seen red.
Carluccio got his 4 yellows playing for Perth before his mid-season transfer.

The Zizou red was bullshit.

I actually agree with you re Miranda. still can't work out he didn't cop a second yellow against City. Although the double jeopardy rule saved Clisby against us last time around.

Miranda had 2 reds and 8 yellows last season, so his 1 red and 2 yellows this season is a noticeable improvement.

Rhyan Grant should have got a yellow and a penalty against the Smurfs in the last Sydney Derby which was the same just with Clisby v Vuck where penalty was awarded.

Quick thought during the lighening break - the last few games have been really high quality. I watch a lot of aussies abroad and at the end of the a league season I don't feel like there is much difference between the a league and the weaker divisions in the 2nd tier of europe - Austria, denmark, norway, scotland, switzerland, yet at the start of the season it is well below even league 1. It makes me wonder how much the long off season is killing our ability to improve.....
