Thrown some names together using Popas formation, i reckon a domestic based Roos could easily compete with an overseas Roos X1. CB the only position with significant disparity.

Thanks for starting this thread, DC.
Popa rates the AL much higher than Arnie did.
Arnie preferred to pick Scottish players outside the Old Firm, and League One in England. I think Geraint Jones was a terrible choice at RB by Arnie! Look what Geria has done at Right CB!
From all the coach education I've done, the AL is vastly tactically superior to League One and Scotland. Of course it is different with Rangers and Celtic.
I've been off forum for ages, because I've compiled a lot of data for the last three games Aus have played Japan, Saudi and Bahrain. We should have had 6 points, but definitely lost against Japan.
What Popa is showing is that Geria, Caceres and Villupillay, as AL players have been as good as any Euroroos.
Geria's rugged ball winning, and reading of the game, plus game sense and composure; Caceres' tough tackling and passing; and Villupillay's off the ball movement; have seen AL players excel. Because of the NC, players are so used to sequentially playing 4-3-3 variations (3-4-3, 5-4-1, 5-2-3; 4-2-3-1; 4-5-1; 4-2-2-2) they seamlessly fit into national team structures. A lot of the young AL players 23 and under are better technicians too - from 10 years of NC development underage.
There are so many young players coming through in the AL I don't know all of them - yet?
With your combo, I have to admit, even though biased, Atkinson isn't playing well enough at R Wing B - yet.
Caceres has to be DM. He has just tackled Bahrain into oblivion! Teague and Valadon are doing well, but I'm a huge Jake Hollman fan!
