Massive swimming devotee. Have followed the sport since as far back as Dawn Frazer at '64 Olympics when she pulled off a rare 3peat of 100m gold, then was booted out of the Athletes Village for trying to purloin a flag. From memory it was either the Olympic or a host Japanese flag.

Shane Gould owned the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich winning three gold medals in freestyle and remains the only woman ever to win five individual Olympic medals. And she was only 15. She won her first gold in the 200m individual medley, then the 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle, breaking the world record in all three. She finished her first Olympic Games with a silver medal in the 800m freestyle. Gould is the only swimmer to ever hold all freestyle world records at the same time, from 100m to 1500m.

A year after her amazing performance in Munich, Shane Gould retired from competition and stepped away from public life for 25 years. After raising her four children on a farm in Western Australia, she re-emerged and was welcomed as a national hero at the 2000 Sydney Millennium Games.

Went to the same high school as Shane Gould.
Trained at the Pymble Forbes Carlisle Club.
Ol Forbes trained many a top swimmer back in those days and a mate of mine just missed the cut to Olympics but became a swim coach onwards for him - that is hard work at the pool every morn from 4am and guiding swimmers KLM’s after KLM’s not for the faint hearted.
What an out and out Champion she was.
Turned hippy as mentioned good for her.
