Summer of Cricket thread

Still only has a Shield average of 35.
White ball selection. If he wants to play Tests then he needs serious work on his patience and technique first. Much like Josh Philippe has had to do, yet he is still waiting for a national call up.

Just can't get excited with the Champ Trophy. Too much other football and live cricket going on.

Steve Smith calls time on his ODI career by top scoring in the India semi. A class act in all formats.

Penultimate shield round starts today DC.
It does.

Attended the Tas v Queensland game after 2 pm today almost till close.

Great innings form Usman! 127 I think, before he was dismissed. I felt a bit sorry for left hander, Hearne, who made over 70 and think he was the victim of a run out.

At close to stumps it was close to 5-300. Queensland are well on top. The wicket didn't do as much as expected.

Just on the speed gun again, while it worked. Webster was 5-6 kph slower than in Tests in Sydney and SL and picked up 2-41 off 20 overs. Again none of the Tassie attack bowled over 130 kph, apart from Meredith. But he only bowled a few balls at 133 kph. It should have been 138-9 kph. Which is still very slow for him.

Usman handled his Test compatriots Kuhnemann and Webster well. It is good to see a batter aged 38-9 still batting so well.

Finally hearing the real reason why Chris Tremain has missed the entire shield season, a rare neurological condition. Jeez man and immediately after having a classic 50 wicket season. But the intrepid Dubbo born quick has not given up on a return to the bowling crease after he was convinced his career was over. Good for you Tremmers as the Blues and our great sport need you.

Bulls were racing away with this before the ever reliable Bell struck to mop up the tail. Elliot wicketless.

A destructive second spell by Neser has the Tigers facing the follow on.

Have to take my hat off to Neser.

Poor batting by Tas losing 6-38, including their top 6 batters in the batting order!

Neser seemed to be getting skid off the pitch. His quickest ball was 132 kph, but the speed gun seems to be 5-6 kph too slow.

Queensland have enforced the follow on! They are dominating. It is hard to watch for a Tassie fan.

It is as Tassie is now my #1 side too. Silk has to retire. He has been a dud for most of his red ball career. Only 10 centuries from 100 matches, says it all. Reckon we can find a better keeper/bat than Doran too, or move him out of the top #6.

Tim Ward back to his best in second dig, unlucky to lose his wicket when he cleverly chipped a ball to what he figured was over the infield, but a trimmed McDermott intercepted it with a leaping one hander.

Tassie paid for their poor first innings. Now are in danger of bringing home the dreaded wooden spoon DC.

I think Silk needs to go too. Other Cricket Tas Members won't hear of it. They question who will captain the team in his absence. Bell, Weatherald, both have vast experience and can captain Tas.

Meredith is bowling rubbish too. Fastest ball 133 kph, which is really 138-9 kph. He bowls 150 kph in T20.

Doran should bat down the order. I agree.

There was a good second innings by Tas against Queensland, but it was too late. It was a good team performance.

Webster batted and bowled well. Bell bowled well. Weatherald batted well. Ward batted well in second dig, but scored about 4 in the first innings.

Owen needs to temper his attacking red ball batting. Not much else good from Tas though.

Will credit Q'land. Well played.

Usman and Hearne batted superbly in the first innings.

Neser bowled superbly, particularly in the first dig!

Swepson bowled well in the second innings too. When I left he had taken 2-23 off 11 overs. It was good to see a wrist spinner succeeding at Bellerive. Test finger spinner, Kuhnemann, struggled to have the same impact for Tas.

The Q'land attack of Neser, Swepson, Wildermuth, Steketeee and Swespon was relentless, despite Tas scoring heavily in the second innings.

Looked at speed gun.

Neser top ball 133kph.

Steketeee 134 kph.

Wildermuth /Bartlett 130 kph.

Tassie

Meredith 133kph. Don't know whether it is lack of rhythm, injury or what, but the guy bowls 150 kph in BBL. Can't get any inside stories through Tas Crick Members either.

Elliot and Bell 130 kph.

Webster 124 kph.

Owen 123 kph.

Given I've seen Webster and Neser bowl 5kph faster on average for Aus, I think the Tas speed gun records 5-6 kph too slow.
