I thought I would start a new thread on female football so that all discussion can be shared in one place. There are a couple of threads running at the moment including the Matildas, Sam Kerr and the Ninja A League but I think it would be better to have it all in one place.

To kick it off I thought I would post news on the ALW Unite Round this weekend.
All games have been moved from Leichhardt Oval to Kogarah Oval due to the condition of the pitch at Leichhardt which resembles a cow paddock.

What was even at Leichardt recently? Or is this just from weather?

From the field markings when I watched the Sydney/Wanderers game last weekend I’d say it’s had rugby (league or union) played on it.
The APL say that they have been ‘monitoring it over the last month’ but I’d say it needs more than just monitoring!
I don’t know why it has taken until four days before the ‘ big event’ to move the fixtures. It truly resembles a cow paddock.

It's such a farce that teams can be admitted into the A-League without having a womens team attached
A farce ?

If clubs decide not to have a women’s team, then , so be it. If the women’s teams can generate the money to sustain them, then that is different. From what I believe, they are a drain on resources. ( I may be wrong )

I’d prefer the women’s and men’s game to be separate.

The council isnt putting much into the oval until they start renovations
At least they could have a decent playing surface, if not then why would Sydney FC use it as their home ground for ALW.

At this point in time of course they can’t generate the revenue to sustain themselves, even the men’s teams are struggling to make ends meet but if we want to provide players for the Matildas then it has to start at club level.

Some cracking goals this week. I think the standard of our youth is getting better and better. It's rapidly happening around the world too, so we'll need to keep it up.
