christ comparing walking columbia during Escobars drug wars was not much compared to walking to the station after a afl game at Vic Park I'd really question that considering I've travelled those places incl El Salvador and Mexico.
You don't need to be around football games for people to be kidnapped or found slain dead on streets.
El Salvador friends have had for years their cars re fitted with bullet proof windows and always locked doors when at stop lights to avoid being heisted. Vic Park cheez.
As for afl king hits hit back in the '70's - yer arial ping pong had its bad guys like brereton types but it was nothing compared to those nrl days And don't recall spectators having brawls unlike what you say down south.
Anyway what goes around comes around re NSL to AL, WSWRBB poznan,chants,flares/MC/MV/SFC have been no angel like the NSL days.

I was a kid when I went to Vic Park and it stayed with me. As far as Bogota is concerned, bullet proof car, 5 star hotel where you get checked continually, go out for dinner and you see sharp shooters on roof tops AND I was still followed. I often wondered whether it would have been better to dress down and stayed in a B&B but company policy did not allow it. My colleagues were unsettled though.
Brereton was 80s - I'm talking Leigh Matthews, Ronnie Andrews, etc. I don't know anythng about NRL since I rarely venture north of the Murray.
I don't doubt that the AL has had it's share of dickheads (re bucket head man). But these days with so many cameras and mobile phones it is easier to catch the perpetrators and with the games being professionally run (the VFL was basically bankrupt) tolerance for that type of behaviour is running low.
 
The A league violence is very rarely in the stands, it happends outside pubs and backstreets, thats why the 2022 incident was a shock, they took the violence to national tv.

The biggest brawl i've seen was after the Australia cup tie between Heidelberg and Melbourne city about a decade ago. Victory and City fans absolutely destroyed eachother in the Northland car park after the game, cops were absolutely brutal when they arrived on the scene, none of this made the news though.

Can understand your scaring but as I said its still nothing like Bogata or similar places as Adults seems both of us have experienced.
As an adult I sure have fears/eyes at the back of my head far more in those places compared to frequenting local grounds.
Go back the early days of RBB OTT behaviour/violence intimidation mirrors early NSL days (like your VPark) for I have lived through both as well.
Ah yes Brereton 80's corrected, ok sure Matthews, the over hyped Barrasi types :) sorry I have never rated the game.
Its been talked up for decades, compared to both rugbys talking 70's tuffness it doesn't compare despite southerners blinkers of those 2 codes, not venturing past the Murray let alone watch something different not surprised.
FYI Violent tackling and head on clash's blow off afl of the times.
As for AL, bucketman was recent and utter disgusting as we know but how the RBB behaved through their peak times matched and exceeded as mentioned earlier.
Cameras been around for a long long time and the behaviour still carries on or out of the grounds as occurred of late.
Burb terrorists fit that mob spot on.

We did, and handed over footage to both FA and Football VIC .. Those arsehats treid to get in to the HOTM last week and will, inevitably, try and get into BT Connor tonight .... Thakfully there is a strict NO ALEAGUE LOSERS ALLOWED policy .... .

How about taking a bit of responsibility on your part.

You handed over the footage? You fucking hero! It was broadcast live. Handing over the footage means nothing. And what footage are you talking about? It was a Preston home game, genius!
