World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

Ryan should've saved that. Well a decent keeper should've saved that, put it that way.
Skids off the ground and point blank range. Even within reach the keeper is at a disadvantage there.

Shades of the Jordan game at the same ground. Early panic. One goal conceded and a circus coach for the opponent.

Good win but still work to do China will be more difficult and honestly Japan would rip our defence apart at the moment but credit to them it's a win we needed badly

judged compared to the game plan only rowles and taggart subpar

just a brilliant team performance

looked very nervous to start the penalty woke us up, Burgess. Irvine, Ryan stepped up and really put good performances in.

I'll have to watch a replay but you wonder where there was any cohesive play. Results count and I'm delighted but you wonder.

Come on Japan. Score!

This is the result that we deserved but not not in the way it should’ve happened.

I found it quite hard to watch us when we’re on the ball. Fuck around with it at the back, give it to Geria and either lob it up field or play a hospital pass to one of the forwards with one of the Indonesians breathing down their neck.

We were surprisingly clinical today for a change. Nice to know this isn’t the best team we can put out there, at least.

Noticed the comments from Jackson Irvine said how they prefer to control the possession more, credit to Indonesia for their high press but also their possession game but thankfully we were clinical with the chances we have had which were from our usual weapons which were the counter attacks and set pieces especially Craig Goodwin who has a ageless left foot.
It didn't felt like a 5-1 win game but its great for morale going into the next game knowing they are capable of even better.
