World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

The Socceroos will be without Adam Taggart and Kusini Yengi for the World Cup Qualifier against China on Tuesday.

Mitch Duke, who was left out of the original 26-player squad, has been called up as reinforcement.

Let me guess, Duke starts so it's back to the same stuff....

The rest aren't out and out strikers in a game we need to win.
 
Sometimes late call ins are for emergencies on game day but other times they come straight in.

Here Popovic has a planed and it doesn't remotely include someone like Botic.

Wouldn't make much sense calling others over from Europe or the ME. Had they been named from the outset... It's Popovic's system though.

That wasn't my point. They had a goal disallowed at the end and most of us couldn't see anything wrong with it.

Player was offside impeding the gk vision

Asian reffing is harsh, but sometimes works in our favour. It was a clear offside the way the game is officiated in asia, there is no mystery to it
 
Beating Saudi would've seen us in such a good spot right now. Avoiding defeat against Bahrain would be a single point. Indonesia away was winnable.

Much different to the last two where it was a 3 horse race and at least here we're that little bit ahead.
 
The more I see the Saudi goal the more I agree with the call. Bloody tight though. Very fortunate. A stupid complacent night in the end.

Absolutely. We should have known that was our grand final and been totally up for it.

Now there's every likelihood the GF will be played in Riyadh. Two points ahead won't be enough.
