With the high standard of play in the A-League, why are the crowds so low?

Can only offer a Melbourne perspective. Im pretty comfortable in saying that its pretty much dead here as a mainstream product. The amount of times i went to a pub on a Saturday evening this past summer and not 1 tv would have the free to air games on, and wouldnt even bother putting it on if requested staggered me, this is even when Victory or City were playing. Will never forget being at a pub and asking them to put a melbourne city v brisbane game on and the response i got was "sorry we dont have optus" LOL.

Yes we saw the mad dash to secure tickets for the grand final, but outside that the week to week interest has vanished.

People who accuse people of racism are usually the racists themselves.

Oh and talk like a man, Gaslight , FFS.
Thers the gaslight attempt.. but hey whatever you say champ.. Off you go now, to your Anglo masters like a good little lap dog, God save the queen/king and all that shit...

How can you follow a football club from birth and then chose to ignore it when a new shiny plastic franchise comes along? I dont know about being a luddite, its a bit hard to in this day and age of 24/7 technological intervention in our lives but Id certainly rather be a club member than a McDonalds customer.
Ask those Adelaide Crows, West Coast Eagles & Fremantle fans who followed SANFL & WAFL clubs before those clubs started in the AFL?

The answer to your question is they follow both.

What they actual fuck are you trying to say ? If it's " Fuck off " then just say that, rather than trying to sound educated.

Again, what the fuck is gaslight in layman's terms?

And that " Champ " patter is fuckin chronic.

What sad, glory hunting, bandwagon losers... I wouldnt cross the street to talk to them.

To a point maybe - Yes I agree some of the youth coming through are a step up on what has gone before but its a bit of a stretch to say they have raised the standard of the league when I look back at players such as Broich, Berisha, Murdocca, Henrique, Franjic, McKay at the Roar and players from other teams of that era such as Juninho, Kewell, Cahill, Thompson, Sterjovski, Carle, Smeltz, Djite, Aloisi and many more - dont see that level of player now in the A League unfortunately - jeez some of those names I mentioned you would definitely pay to watch again
Broich and Berisha I understand, but there are probably a dozen u23 mids in the league who are better than murdocca imo?

The AFL is a rich person's game in the northern states.

It's pretty much taken the role off rugby union up there.
Growing up in cairns I used to think "code wars" meant rugby league vs afl, with all the afl migrants (aka aussies from Victoria/south australia/western Australia) bringing their silly game up north

The hope is that the revival of clubs under a new pyramid in the years moving forward will reverse the cannibalism and see crowds return to these old clubs making the spread a lot more even and engage alot more people... Now you may see them as wogs or fucktards or whatever vile slander you wanna throw but the fact is some people may like things different to you, and freezing them out ONLY because of your perceived opinion of their "effnicity" is pretty wrong.. at least in my book... who are you (or I ) to tell a football club who they can or cant appeal to?
take a long time for that to happen

in the meantime I'm hoping the dormant fans for the nst clubs are sufficiently different group to a league fans that the total supporter base grows rather than just dilutes.

That's the worry.

Our population is too small and the football community is too for it to work.
