Matildas friendlies in Western Australia

What formation are we expecting?
Possibly a 4-2-1-3 formation where our forward three has Gielnik and Chids on the wings and Holly McNamara as our dedicated striker. Van Egmond probably the attacking midfielder, with Heatley and Sayer in midfield. Back four of Carpenter, Rankin, Hunt and Kennedy and obviously Teagan Micah in goal.

And we're underway for Montemurro's debut as Matildas head coach. Matildas currently on the front foot, nearly scoring inside the first two minutes of the match.

Going through a gallery of Slovenia kits. Hands down they never get it wrong. Some beauties.

It's been entertaining. Very open. We're definitely looking to keep possession more.

Our mids very shaky on the ball. All of Van Egmond, Chidiak and Heatley have given up possession. Some poorly weighted back passes. I kinda like it though, we need to iron that stuff out.

We're dangerous on transition, so quick to counter, but need to be more clinical. Sayer, Gielnik, McNamara all quality tonight so far.

Montemurro definitely making more use of the through ball with our new attacking style of play.

Any nicknames or abbreviations for Montemurro? My phone will auto type his name eventually but wondering about a shortener.

Really think he's going to identify some hopefuls and cut some deadwood this window. Time for adjustments.

Already we can see a different style the Matilda’s are playing, good to see the team try to play through the lines although not perfect it’s better than the stuff we saw with the vibes coach Gustafson.

What happened to the crowd by the way? I’m so used to seeing large to sell out crowds when the Matilda’s are playing, hopefully it’s just a blip rather than a start of a decline of interest.

The crowd seems small and not very animated. Are the Matildas not popular in Perth?
Last time the Matildas played at HBF Park we saw crowds of 19084 and 18798 for the games against Chinese Taipei and Iran but bearing in mind that the Port v Carlton AFL game is also underway at the same time as the Tillies.
