Agreed, hemp more broadly—too many restrictions and red tape. Every time a law is passed for our 'protection', money and opportunity are lost.
There are investment vehicles that can get you into hemp etc, haven't done particulary well though. My theory is that due to the bulkiness of the product ( like wheat, sugar, soybeans etc ) you start getting into massive economies of scale so from an investment perspective the returns aren't great. Plus the uptake of the product isn't there in a legal sense like you said like tobacco/vapes etc. I wouldn't bother personally.

Booze companies not so much however check out 5 year share prices for Altria, Phillip Morris & British American Tobacco.

Keep smoking everyone, I appreciate it.
Diabolical to invest, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm invested in the Australian military complex. Aukus or no aukus investments will have to increase.

Agreed. Until broader regulatory approval is given, it isn't worth it.

Aukus is one the weirdest deals I've ever seen. So the froggies get the go ahead to build the subs then that slimy prick Morrison ghosts them to suckhole to the Yanks. These subs if they ever get built won't be ready for 10 years at least. What a shit show. In terms of investments if it's known who the local suppliers are for stuff then that might be a good starting point.

I was reading ( but completely forgot ) some newsletter which pointed to a local Aussie drone technology concern that was going to/or had potential to be used in Ukraine. You'd probably know more.

I've got a couple of Insta pages and mil news sites, I'll try and link them to see if it will jog your memory.

I saw a report on tv that the fashion retailer Country Road are closing several of its Sydney stores.

Have to admit it's been years since I bought anything from CR myself as if I do buy any clobber I am more into the classic Sportscraft and Rodd & Gunn brands, but it's a worry for Australian fashion retailers if one of it's iconic brands is on the rocks.....

There seems to be an half a dozen of these retailers doing the same kind of mens attire.

Country Road, Trenery, Sportscraft, Rodd and Gunn, Gazman, maybe RM Williams?

A slightly overcrowded market space?

I hate seeing things shut down, there's the human element. People losing their livelihoods....

I find it kind of strange CR pulling back for all the brands you mention rely on Imports so what gives.
Bad management - in too many malls paying high rents ? though all those other brands are in similar places as well.
I have always found CR quite boring product though R & G Gazman have similar styles yet by the look of it do better sales.
RM is in a different bucket due to their boots/shoes then added clothing range but I expect their profit on boots has to be good for they are OTT price wise to me.
Retail game is hard yakka, one year your the next best thing the following not.

I'll go shopping at those places when I turn 70.
you b iatch and even though I'm heading down that age path I also don't like their plain conservative styles.
Especially CR boring as bat shit but my mum always dressed the poor ol bloke in their gear haha
Got to say I've sussed out Gazman a bit of late, has improved got some ok gear now and then.
These brands suffer against the more younger brands - well to me such as Zara.
I buy alot there pretty good stuff at reasonal prices.

football us life - here's a clearer article what CR is doing.

RM williams are opening a number of stores, with big investment, even opening in the uk.

Trenery, Rodd & Gunn, Gazman Sportscraft - are all beige now - what's the difference? Nobody under 50 is shopping there. Time for a rebrand for them. CR is an interesting one, while they are opening stores, they're closing at the same time as you point out the news.

CR has had its time in the sun again a few years back with investment in design, but the basics and staples are being filled by likes of Uniqlo, even low as AS Colour now. And if you want to go slightly higher, you have brands like COS with much more contemporary and cooler design.

yer Uniglo are great stores and choice as well agree, another go to.
I see Rodd & Gunn is similar to CR to me in styles but they do very well in the USA whereas CR tried US market and failed.
