I wanted to say this in the other thread, you can only play whats in front of you and IF you Don't respect your opponent you deserve being punished and your supporters at the same time suffer.
BIG scalp being reigning Championship Chumps, thats a good semi pro slap in the face with all their resource just as it happens in Cups everywhere.

Might I say Thank christ for the semi (dis respected) pro Clubs giving this comp the go and injection football needs.
Without them the comp is futile.
The AL clubs will be in hard preseason too, and have heavy training legs.

They won't be match fit.

that has been discussed countless times over the years D.
Despite the so called lack of match fitness notion they are PRO vsing semi pro - train days and days, small sided to full field games PLUS playing their Youth/U23's are in proper current winter season comps having Match fitness.
You can't tell me U23's/Youth can't run their socks off please on top of their training skilset.
Main known start up players are still rested depending circumstances...and would vary club to club.
I don't know much of MC but SFC for eg on the same night started up with up to 5 odd regular starters - lacking match fitness or not they sure would be up to handling semi pros no doubt about that, even for 60mins they should could cause enough impact during their time.
Also you sure wouldn't be doing light training after the years of tournament history your up against the semi pros who are going to give you a run for the money - as you know preparation is rule #101 no matter the contest.

I hate city but you can sort of understand.

They have to play ACL, months out of season.

Victory had a player pull a hammy the other night and were left with no one else on the bench. It’s not like clubs have squads with 30 senior players like in Europe

If they play a full strength now they risk a lot

It sucks but it’s a reality

AL clubs do their hardest training about now, LFC . They taper towards the start of the AL season.

You raise some valid points though. The difference between pros and semi-pros being one.

hear you buddy from the logical outlook but don't buy much as well.
The Pro's despite not using regulars have their Youth to play and all on the cards have 7 subs And MOST if not all most likley injury free barring the exceptions.
The semi pros are in season, are carrying injuries in many case's and the subs for many would be youth as well and probably playing the biggest game they have pressure wise barring if any have had Finals experience.
So its pretty much balances out in some ways.

Re your 2nd post about supporters banging on about playing Youth, yep they are getting what they scream for correct.

Also, people shouldn’t complain. They want youth given a chance then suddenly it’s ’no you can’t play youth!’

Cannot win.
Never said no youth. Just noted that City do not prioritise the AC otherwise they would have fielded a few more senior players. It was good to see some of the new youth signings.
