Just a question for @Decentric - you have explained a lot in your analysis using stats and thank you for that. However, while you may say that the central midfield did not get much ball, how do you account for whether or not the central midfield make themselves available as an outlet to...
I can't see that. While we are all happy with getting through our DM/CM was the area on my viewing (without re-watching games) that we seemed to constantly lose possession.
Probably - but Nisbet performed better than Teague in that game and the following year a winger playing in the midfield (Leckie) showed Teague up again. Teague performed well in the game against a lesser team (China) but does not turn up on the big occasions. As you can tell I don't rate Teague.
I go the other way. Harry fitted into the team. The team was built around Timmy. I remember the game against Iraq in 2013. Timmy couldn't get a head on the ball and that was our only tactic. Replaced Timmy with Josh and we were through (pending another result later that night I think).
TBH...
Ryan and Vukovic were both had better penalty stop stats than Redmayne. Crawley just thought they wouldn't have seen too much of Redmayne. Chances are that it wouldn't have come down to the last penalty if Maty or Vuka where there in the first place.
Nice caricatures. TBH though when and while Schwarzer and Ryan played their body was and is their temple. They both worked incredibly hard. Bosnich such a raw but ultimately wasted talent (in more ways than one).
As a performer as a NT keeper. As a club keeper he really suffered when he left Michel Preud'homme at Brugge. Crawley at CCM and Preud'homme taught him a lot. When he has run of the rails occasionally he used to talk to one or both of them to get back on track.
At a minimum Schwarzer and...
Where did you get that? We have gone ahead of Ecuador now and Senegal does not look like they will get 1 of the direct spots so we may be in Pot 2 as it stands now. Problem is that some of the CAF teams may overtake us as they have meaningful games before the draw in December.
