I've always wondered if these 2 teams had a rematch and we were hell bent on trying to match r break out how it would urn out. AS fitness would probably be a lot better these days not to mention deep block tactics and our own issues. Yet, if hell bent on going for it, what may happen. Of course I write this as more of a novelty than the circus it would be.

I recall it, felt really sorry for them knowing what they were up against and not meaning we were world beaters by the way.

Yes it was a pathetic game and is best forgotten. The weakest football nation in the world, and they weren't even able to field their best team. Disgraceful that we needed to field our top players against them; a second tier state league side would still have beaten them comfortably.

Blame Farina for that; if there were any justice(let alone logic) he would've capped as many of the '99 Joeys squad as possible, instead of fielding senior Euro-based players.
 
I mentioned in another thread about my World Cup playthrough project I’m going to embark on through. Fuck me I can’t wait to play this game (or essentially, the 1997 and 2005 WCQs, since no game exists with the 2001 WCQs)

Will be:
  1. FIFA 97 (1998 World Cup Qualifiers)
  2. World Cup 98
  3. World Cup 2002 (will mock up a home/away qualifying tie with Uruguay)
  4. World Cup 2006 (includes qualifiers)
  5. World Cup 2010 (includes qualifiers)
  6. World Cup 2014 (includes qualifiers)
  7. FIFA 18 - World Cup Expansion (will do something similar to 2002, in mocking a qualifying setup)
  8. FIFA 22 - World Cup Expansion (will do something similar to 2002, in mocking a qualifying setup)
All games played at same difficulty and match length for consistency (Professional, 20 min halves - no skipping cutscenes)

Oh mate I'll love to hear how you go with this: world cup 98 and 2002 were special games I still have them. They don't make games like thst anymore that's for sure FIFA peaked in the 2010s
 
I had International Soccer on mega drive then FIFA98 RTTWC on PC. Too much fun. I still have them, still play FIFA98 occasionally. I swear Harry Kewell was in it, but the version I now have doesn't include him.

International Soccer on mega drive ... OMFG what a memory, wasted thousands of hours on this in my youth... :)
