She believes cup match threads

To Sermani's credit he's brought in a whole bunch of debutants. Far more than Gustavsson.
I wouldn't say he's brought in a whole bunch. Many of them were there about's and in the squad. He brought in debutants in matches where it was easy wins, but also he never really stayed with them or continued to develop them. Look a the squad he played against Japan. Still using a lot of the same players who haven't really done much to earn the call up or developed in the last 2 years.

Matildas vice-captain Ellie Carpenter has revealed that players still remain in the dark over their pay for the upcoming SheBelieves Cup.

Healey and grant I'm not familiar with. Any thoughts about them?

The team had a meeting after the Japan game. News story had coaching criteria as the headline. I mean, do the players call the shots on who they want to work with? Something is so rotten in this playing group where I think a core group of players have more control than the manager to the extent that the manager is a puppet.

The squad needs gutting of the old guard and bad eggs and a coach to come in who doesn't taken shit from anyone.

players rebelled against graham arnold in 2007. I guess if you have higher profile players you need a really strong coach to handle them

Football Australia just brought Sermanni in after the Olympics disaster to try and right a sinking ship I think, and clearly it's not working if the Matildas are suffering their biggest loss to continental rivals Japan a year out from a home major tournament. There needs to be a full overhaul of the Matildas coaching setup sooner rather than later, and ideally it should have been when TG was given the sack in August 2024.

All this dressing room talk. Is there an actual source or just speculation because they're not performing?

Charlotte Grant was a good replacement for Ellie Carpenter back in 2022 when she did her ACL. Winonah Heatley could do well in midfield but not so sure.

Grant was fantastic for Carpenter and yet as soon as Carpenter was back Gustavsson wouldn't play her.

Anyway, whatever they talked about they're going way better in this game.

I don’t know much about the USA team, but I don’t recall any names playing here from the 2023 World Cup. Looks like almost a total regeneration for them over the past 18 months.

Never believe what you read in a headline.
