Big thanks to @grazorblade & @AliG040803 for the great effort!

Only really heard most of this today, apart from Ange at Spurs.

I'm always interested in new information.

1. That most teams in the Asian U20 Cup didn't have all players available. I assumed it was only Aus.

2. That the Saudi league has so many foreign stars playing, even senior national team Saudi players have been left out of starting line ups in the league. This has severely depleted the national team.

3. It was interesting to hear a person from overseas notice the changes in the way Australia are playing differently in the U 20s than before, and compared to senior level.

thanks for the feedback

yes I was definitely interested in that comment, saw some saudi fans on social media press that it was their b team as well. Apparently everyone has players missing

It's really mental when you see how foreign the Saudi league is now. Their best generally get some minutes but nowhere near how it was.

I enjoyed this podcast.Deadball Jack added some good insights into Asian football. When the discussion centred on the Socceroos and who would be a good AM I was surprised that Nisbet was not mentioned.I know he is playing in the mainly hammer throwing SPL but he has excellent ball control and is quick and has a good eye for a defence splitting pass.He also has scored goals for Ross County .His work rate is fantastic.

JS but the same applies to the many top leagues as well and some seem to do pretty ok at WC's.
Look how many are in Lique1 for eg "foreigners"
Despite what people think of EPL and foreigners their NT has stepped up the last few tournaments
The Argies though recent WC winners have far less but thats typical re latino leagues, players go to EU.

I think the local Saudi players can ony improve having world class players in their top flight, ressies train with the 1st team.
The knock off is most likely in time.

I wonder if Popovic's 5-2-3 system effectively freezes Nisbet out. The two mids are DM's. He'd have to play as the wide forward that inverts.

A good point. He is a very versatile player and could also play as a wide forward.

On the Matilda's chat, I know the players all play in big leagues, but could it be they are just not as good as we think? Their performances have been horrible. I'm not sure the right coach is a silver bullet here.

yeah his wide attacking mids need a bit of pace, more like inside forwards. Mind you, he played deep for ccm?

Nisbet started deep then ended up a false 9 from memory. We'd have quite a few ahead of him at DM for the NT you'd think. I want to see him as a CAM in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 with two DM's.

I liked this pod. His views on CONCACAF and AFC vs Asia were quite good and pretty well balanced. It's not often you get someone who can talk with such impartiality.

Would’ve been better if he’d kept my birth-country out of his mouth at 53:47 but that aside, he knows his sh1t FWIW.
