I tell you what. If they can get this Ukraine cease fire over the line then I'll give him some credit. Reason is that I don't give a flying fuck who negotiates peace be it in Russia or the Middle East I just want that Russia/Ukraine war to end. Peace is a non-partisan concept. ;)

Meanwhile Vlad the impaler is in Kursk claiming captured Ukrainian troops will be shot as terrorists .... Ceasefires be damned ... its time to settle this once and for all ... Squeezing out trade deals by extortion isnt helping anyone but the US ... fuck them and everything they stand for...

Sure but basically they've had to sign over their resources and Russia gets to keep what they've taken.

That's a fucked outcome anyway you look at it.

Last night on 7.30 Penny Wong was asked about the US Alliance and what would we do if the US decided to help us only if we signed over half of our resources.

Wong sidestepped the question of course but it's a fair point. Besides people not dying, which is always good, this is the worst possible outcome for Ukraine.

Don't think China isn't rubbing their hands together over Taiwan after watching all this go down.

There is no other reasonable solution but a negotiated settlement.

* Russia has the manpower for this to go for years.
* Europe despite all of their "tough" talk will not go head to head with Russia. They certainly didn't during the USSR era.
* Europe will take years and years to build up military.
* Europe will require a trillion dollars to build up their military, they don't have the money, they'll need to borrow it.
* This war could have ended years ago but someone kept encouraging Ukraine to dig in deeper. They're now fucked & they're now essentially a vassal state of America.
* They need to negotiate now or they won't have a country left to negotiate with.
* Putin doesn't give a fuck about his people, he'll throw them into the grinder for as long as it takes. This has now taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of people for basically nothing. Putin has his buffer zone against Nato and Ukraine now has empty promises from the West, they did it all to themselves.

Trump has now converted America from world police to world mercenary. I call it pay-to-play-geopolitics.

Now in regards to Taiwan if they didn't have semi conductor expertise then America wouldn't give a flying fuck if China swooped in a took the island years ago and they probably could if they wanted to. China army is now fearsome after trillions of trillions spent on it.

The pay part from Taiwan's part is this.


Buidling massive semi conductor factory(s) in America and massive ongoing investment. They know what's up and for that they sort of get an American security gurantee. So when Trump and his billionaire buddies offer to clean out Ukraine's minerals for them that is also what they're offering. A sort of security gurantee. See how this works? ;)
 
There's no benefit to Russia to agree to this 'ceasefire'. A 'ceasefire' it not a peace treaty, and it does not end a war. All it does is give the losing side time to regroup and re-arm. We've been here before with Minsk and Minsk II. Its a trap and the Russians see it for what it is.
