An interesting question. It seems that the system implemented by Poppa is complicated, hence there is no time to blood a newby into the squad in such a short time frame. Therefore incumbency rules, or the last out gets back in.

It seems an opportunity lost.

Yeah poppas club teams seem to get to amazing heights then drop suddenly. I wonder if the complexity of his game plans makes it hard for him to regenerate?

Anyway, hopefully we are on an upward trajectory

The complexity of his game plan saw him play Irankunda as a #10, hook him at half time and never pick him again.

Saw him pick Balard and Triantis and not play them.

Brilliant...

If they can't play his system he doesn't play them which means not always choosing our best players
It's a tradeoff, will wait and see how it goes

this is probably popping a sacred cow, but balard is overrated in my view
yes fans called him kante, but a commentator compared rukavytsya to robben

Balard is probably going to peak slightly higher than o'niell and is currently pretty similar

So you're comparing one wrong commentator with the hordes of fans who adore Balard and the data wonks who rate him off the charts?

where are the hordes of fans rating him off the charts? I watch him regularly, he is solid for the level but not spectacular

You're the one who referred to the Kante label. Around December he was rated something like number 10 in Europe for interceptions, duels and forward passes from midfield.
