Matildas v South Korea

been a bit of a frustrating game in attack, at least the back gate has looked reasonably sturdy

crowds amazing as usual

Full time at the new Sydney Football Stadium, it ends 1-0 in favour of the Matildas for our first win in season 2025. Emily van Egmond's cross turned into a South Korean own goal the only goal in the match.

I was being tortured watching my Roar game while this match was played.

How did Jamila Rankin go? I still loosely class her as a Roar player and am interested in how she steps up to the national team.

Jamilla Rankin played 63 minutes and had 15 accurate passes, including one tackle won at left back.

Thanks for that. Would you say she had a good/solid performance?

She developed as left fullback outside Polks for us which gave her a great grounding in positional play - much like Luke Devere benefited from learning alongside Craig Moore.

Mackenzie Arnold's been ruled out of the second game against South Korea in Newcastle on Monday. She's progressing well in her return-to-play program but it's been considered within her best interests to continue recovery within her club environment at Portland Thorns.

I'm sure they just bring out these injured players for the fan engagement. They wouldn't be in the squad if these were away matches.

Starting XI has been named for game 2 in Newcastle. Courtney Nevin, Clare Wheeler and Mary Fowler start in place of Heatley, Foord and Rankin who move to the bench.

fowler with the best chance but ball seemed to get stuck under her feet a bit
