is there a story there about why he struggled?
It could've been he was just behind germain. The A league, MLS are a bit like sides like benfica b, bayern 2 and dortmund 2 where there are bigger gaps between the best and worst players than most leagues. So you can find yourself too good for the league yet not getting any time!

I'm hoping okon is in that situation. I've heard people claim he could start for an austrian level league right now

Just for fun I pulled a few of the comments about Boyle's recent selections for the Socceroos

As you can see from the first quote, at the time he had 2 goals from the first 10 games. This was an awful run of form for Hibs at the start of the season, but 2 goals in 10 games is not horrific for a winger by any means. Everyone's current favourite Nestory has 1 goal in 17 matches, he did do well to play in more games than Boyle scored.

I've loved what Boyle has done over the last few years, but I think it's time to move on - 2 goals from 10 games for Hibs this season

For me the big surprise is actually in the attacking selections I’m not sure I agree with some of the selections such as Borrello, Boyle or Yengi.

Add in Grant particularly and to a slightly lesser extent Boyle, two more mystifying selections based on current form, you have to wonder what Popovic is thinking.

I think Boyle has declined in recent times. When he first played for the Socceroos, he stood out. Boyle seems to get knocked off his feet a lot.

Frankly, when you look at the recent selection of Brattan, Grant and Degenek, on top of the ongoing selection of Duke, Behich and Boyle... and remembering also the non-selection of Nisbet, Irankunda and (perhaps) Toure... it's as though Popa has been employed by the Saudis to make sure we drop points.

Some of my favourite GGFC posters amongst the quotes (god knows I have made similar type comments in the past). Enjoy it now so we can all forget and make similar comments about the next squad.

It's interesting that Boyle is playing as a striker in a front 2 not a winger at Hibs. I don't think our formation suits him the best. He isn't a target man and he is less threatening wide than centrally with a partner.
 
Nestory Irankunda came on in the 62nd minute of 10-man Grasshoppers' 2-1 loss to FC Sion in the Swiss Super League relegation group. Only goal differential keeping them in the relegation playoff spot and safe from automatic relegation as it stands now.

Yep time for big Jaime to come back too he had 8 goals in 15 games while at Hibs imagine if he played a full season? chuck him up front and give him the armband haha

The other one that springs to mind is Adama Traore who is dual national. He had a season at Vitoria de Guimaraes.

There have been a lot of failures, particularly young players. Patafta, Hammond, Teague. I hope Okon-Engstler gets out.

Bovalina bench for Vancouver.

Girdwood-Reich starting CM/DM for St Louis. That's a big thing, sub last game returning from injury, then straight into the XI.

Yazbek starting for Nashville v DC.

Rowles is on the DC bench after being captain recently. Weird, maybe he's being 'managed' or something.

Piol bench for Salt Lake.

Yazbek subbed off at half time.

Rowles subbed on at half time.

Girdwood-Reich got a full game in a heavy loss.
