Aussies abroad šŸŒšŸ¦˜

Tell you what, a full strength roos squad is probably favourites against japan at home

even a top team would struggle to score against the defensive starch of ryan, souttar, burgess, circati, irvine, oniell, metcalfe and bos if we are playing at home

we will probably have a metcalfe and circati at 90% with bos, souttar and irvine missing though....so it will be a really really tough match
Once playing into the new system it should be strong. China's goal was from a lapse. Freak Bahrain goals but we didn't give Saudi an inch in open play.

Japan away is an amazing case study of how we kept them out of deadly zones. Japan overhit the ball a lot so we may count ourselves fortunate but the way Burgess was able to shield and smartly got the sprint head starts was class.

He's ok as he jogged over to the ensuing drama of a Napoli penalty in the final seconds. VAR takes it back as Circati was stepped on in the duel.

Circati won the ball and then stumbled and was actually grapsing the anterior of his right knee and I don't think my blood pressure has risen so quickly in a long time. Don't bloody do that to us.

I believe that ADO Den Haag lost in the play offs and are now eliminated from the promotion race. Looking at the commentary on FotMob, it says the match was abandoned before 90 min due to crowd issues (ADO home crowd) - it was 1-0 (3-0 aggregate) at the time.
Thanks for correcting.

It's a poor level but you wonder about having someone confident hitting the target and fit will need just a half chance to score for the national team.

I think Iredale isn't of the Maclaren ilk. If we can just get past Duke and maybe Yengi keeps getting injured, the door opens for the AA and A League suitors who stake a good claim.
I wouldn't completely rule him out at all. I think anyone scoring regularly should be getting looked at because we don't have many that are, particularly at a higher level.

Boyle and Toure are the most consistent scorers at the higher level and they're second tier leagues.

The next group of consistent scorers includes the Iredales, Carters and AL guys who are a step or two in level down from that - depending on how you rate the AL.

Then theres the guys like Yengi and Irankunda et. al. who aren't playing or aren't scoring for various reasons, but have qualities that'd worry Asian opponents.

Metcalf has weaken the team in the past tho. Name 1 game he played well for the roos?

At.the moment, He's not getting minutes in bundesliga.

According to FotMob, Circati had the second highest rating on his team (7.5). Nisbet had the equal highest on his (8.1). It’s disappointing that Ross County weren’t able to claw themselves out of the relegation playoff spot. They needed a win and they needed Dundee to lose. Sadly, they got neither result. It’s a bittersweet result for OS Aussies, as Nisbet will play against T. Yengi for a place in the prem next season.
Even though it’s been a disappointing season for Nisbet/Ross County for a few reasons, I think it shouldn’t necessarily be seen as a failure for him. He remained injury free in his first season in Europe (which most Aussies don’t do), he played a higher number of games than he probably ever has before, he had to match himself against players in a much more physical league and in a system that forced him to adapt his playing style/skill set, he won his starting spot back, he was essentially the only creative outlet for his team for most of the season. He also experienced high pressure games in a relegation battle.
Overall, it wasn’t a glamorous first season, but I think he’ll take a lot away from it. I’m curious to see what happens if RC get relegated - what do Nisbet’s prospects look like moving forward?

It's good to have you back. Love the passion. I don't like Metcalfe in midfield but don't mind the idea of him at RWB. He isn't starting but has been a regular sub since returning from injury, so is getting some limited minutes.

Circati played the full match in addition to stoppage time in Parma's scoreless draw with Napoli which ensures the Serie A title race will go down to the last day of the season.
I’m concerned if he gets picked for the Roos he gets injured again due to long travel.

Then theres the guys like Irankunda et. al.

The kid is 19... comparing him to a seasoned 32 yo pro who grew up playing in Scotland is insane. Toure is doing great but he's 21. Come back to me when Nestory is 21. People really wanna pick journeyman over our best talent for decades? We should be building the team around him.

Kewell was 17 when everyone went mad about him.

Irankunda's problem seems to be that he gets emotional and says/does rash things. I would bet thousands that he and Popa had words at half time v China when he was played out of position. So Popa thought he was good enough to start against China, but has never played him since.

pretty high class season saving tackle given it literally might save parmas season

shades of some of souttars tackles

I think so too. New generation where they're all about fire but tantrums. Got to remember how mentally cool Kewell was and he could back it up.

If well is your yardstick then very well against Mexico and England surpasses that. He had a good game against South Korea despite missing the sitter. Solid games in 2 NZ friendlies. He hasn't played since Bahrain so we haven't been able get his more mature play into the team. He's matured and filled out now.

Yeah he doesnt quite seem to be back to his best at club level since his injuty but he has gotten at least one start

He is a gun off the ball so having him in the same team as irvine souttar circati burgess is a team that will look awkward against teams parking the bus but could get a result against a powerhouse

I don’t get the hype of Metcalfe as a right wingback/winger, he never played there for Melb city where he was a box 2 box midfielder, what does he do did exactly apart from cutting inside on the right?

From what I’ve seen from him at Melb City he needs a player next to him that’s capable of playing of in between the lines to create like Berenguer so he can crash into the box, he needs a player like Hrustic, Luongo next to him, I remember when he played with Irvine at the Asian cup he looked ineffective as a No.8 so he needs to be with the right midfielder next to him so he can shine.
