It’s a football forum for the most part, and she made false accusations towards our members. She sure didn’t make a good impression and currently her account is closed

Didn’t know about that? Sorry to hear it.

We have a few specialist cricket posters, who don’t know much about football, who make some good points about cricket. One told me recently he was thrilled Aus made the WC, but didn’t feel like he knew enough about football to post about it.

Yeah well as you know we are planning on branching out and doing a pod on Aussie national sports in general. Most of us interested in the Roos will tune in if one of our tennis stars has a good run in a grand slam for example

nothing anyone said to her public looked unreasonable, but she said people were stalking her and harassing her for being English. I assumed there were issues in dms with people, but apparently not, so unfortunately didn't seem a good fit for the forum (unless there was an inappropriate comment I missed)

She's obviously welcome back :)
 
I think JG prematurely over re acted but that’s my opinion though I do recall she mentioned she had experienced forum abuse in the past elsewhere hence think she took 1 or 2 posts further than it needed to be but as mentioned maybe jumped the gun.
A shame for it was good to see someone from abroad joining us it no matter the sex.
 
I only glossed over some of the posts and threads but a new member being that active with new threads and with that sort of tone, you can just tell sometimes. The overly friendly, enthusiastic, somewhat prompt language in their posts show they've made a multi to fish for their target.

As far as I can see we have always taken new members on face value and welcomed them - except where they say they like Tasmanian Craft Beers and are trolling you from their first post.

I don't care if our internet traffic and members are football tied or have other common interests - the more members who participate in any discussion the better as far as I am concerned. Richie has engaged with a few of us most entertainingly in 'other' threads and exposure to football - even through noticing the odd post while following a cricket thread - is as good a way as any other (except attending live games with friends or playing it in some form) of gaining some interest in the sport.

I wondered if JG got harassed for her affiliation with you through Richie - knowing from your posts over time that you are specifically targeted by some elsewhere.

It felt and looked to me like JG accused me of harassment and stalking on the grounds of her being British and female. Pasquali has said there were no DMs so the public record is all there is of it.

The best I can come up with (assuming it wasn't someone posing as Richie's mate from external knowledge) is that Aussie humour was somehow taken the wrong way and with the wrong intentions - which can happen.

Nothing to see here really - if JG really is the person you expect that account to be she can always come back if she wants to. If she is happy playing elsewhere it is just as good.

A person I invited to the forum to discuss cricket, who I’ve met in person, invited JG to the forum. Supposedly, said person is upset at the way she has been treated.

We all agree we need new members. I like to make all newcomers feel welcome, unless they come here to troll and destabilise - only a very small number of nameless people.

I’ve invited one poster from another bookreading forum to G and G Bookreading. Not sure if she has joined, or used a different name and joined, but to the best of my knowledge I am not sure that account has posted anywhere else on G and G except Bookreading?

This is an AUSTRALIAN football forum though (the hint is in the actual forum name)..... There are plenty of sites online where old people can get together and discuss what life was like in the 30s and 40s.... you should "invite" them there.

They should set up Baggy green caps.com or something like that... Surely this ISN'T the place for it?

More posters discussing any topic the better. Love the range of views.

The people who supposedly harassed JG don’t harass me. It is not the guys who accrue frequent flyers for many bans - and who deliberately start Tas Craft Beer Assoc threads in order to post photos of me!

I don’t know all the details but don’t like losing posters. For the record I can’t remember you harassing anyone, RIMB!

I asked Pasquali about recruiting specific cricket posters, like Richie.

He was happy with it. And happy to recruit specific book readers.

Both categories might even become interested in football!

Fair enough ..... I suppose becoming interested in football through an internet forum is no different than todays youth "consuming" football based on video games and tiktok shorts...

Id prefer to enage with football people who happen to have other interests rather than the other way around ... but again just my 2 cents. They dont bother me.
