I dont have the answers to correcting the dropping birth rates but I know the cause: feminism. The Trojan horse for communism.

Since you guys know everything about everything, I will let you solve this. Once you understand this you have the option of turning your back and doing the best with what you got. Im walking away... it's no longer my fight.

JK.

Von der Leyen being criticised for tariff deal. Most economic opinion is she didn't fight for the EU position. I'm confused, I thought fighting for your position and telling the other side to get stuffed wasn't the right way to go.

I just read the basics of the EU - US trade deal and it's not really much of a deal for the European Union.

They must be spewing in Brussels.

Although much smaller, Britain's trade deal with the US is looking much sweeter than Europe's.

Maybe one day a woman will talk to you that isn't a retail worker.

The way the EU carries on about having protections and provisions for economic prosperity for its citizens is garbage. I know nothing is perfect but they way they bang on about being the saviour to society doesn't work and they're bad at getting themselves out of holes. Von der Leyen has ruined every place she has governed. Totally inept.

Agree. I'm generally a Europhile through and through. I really like the concept of the EU to be honest but I cannot stand the democratically insensitive Brussels establishment.

They smack of comfortable bureaucratic smugness and the European Parliament is an absolute nonsense.

As appalling as Trump’s decisive victory may appear to most Europeans, they should at least acknowledge that American democracy allows its citizens to change leaders and policies at the very pinnacle of power, something denied Europeans, at least with regards to the EU.

I personally don't enjoy that many in Germany say the EU is the reason for freedom in Europe. It's part of it with early industrial deals to keep countries moving but the threat was from the east, not in western Europe. NATO is the reason things didn't spiral out of control back in the day. That organisation of course has its own issues to now.

I know a couple of very highly educated types who are so EU centric that they deny such shortcomings exist. They're don't even bother trying to justify or analyse it because they've got what they think is their perfect set up.

My dad was a reasonably well educated man. Had a degree in politics and history. Was a high ranking white collar trade union official and a lifelong member of the British Labour Party and very much on the left wing of the socialism spectrum.

He, like a lot of his fellow 'democratic socialists' didn't like how the EU was set up at all. He was highly critical of it's entire mantra and thought it was created by the establishment elites for the establishment elites.....

Funny thing is these days if you're critical of the EU you get accused of being a right wing populist. And the EU is very much the darling of the left.....

Genuine question, and not arguing against it. Just wondering with the phrase (that is weaponised by current Israeli admin) ‘Israel has a right to exist’ - can you explain why? And also why is it anymore of a right than any other nation or rogues like the ISIS Islamic caliphate?

Do you NOT agree that every ethnic group has the right to self determination, the right to exist? Even ISIS has the right to exist - its their insistence on barbaric practices and their "colonialism" that most sane people object too ...as we do to Isreal's treatment of Palestinians... or Hamas's treatement of Palestinians AND Jews.

What I dont get is why western media is suddenly so Pro-Palestine yet the Kurds, for example, are just as deserving of a free state and self determination, have been persecuted and slaughtered by Syrians and Turks for decades but I dont see any Kurdish marches or flags or protests by Christian groups .... what makes one cause special and the other unheard?

My question was about the nations - not actual ethnic groups. What is a 'right to exist'? Who mandates that right? Would leaders get up and say 'We don't agree with them, but the Islamic Caliphate has a right to exist'?

The world has been going for billions of years, but an area drawn on a map in 1948 suddenly has a right to exist? This is a broader question. Realistically, countries are figments of imagination. They are not tangible things - they are simply lines on a piece of paper that only exist if two people agree to imagine that that line is beneficial to them both.

As far as I am aware, any nation saying 'it has a right to exist' is because they think it does. If you really think about it, something that doesn't actually exist is being told it has a right to exist.

People, cultures and identities have more of a right to exist because they are actually something that hasn't been drawn.

It's a good point. There's all sorts of new nations that weren't there even a hundred years ago which have been formed under the nation-state system.

South Sudan is probably the most recent. Kosovo was formed a decade ago. After WW1 and WW2 there.was a spate of new nation states getting themselves up and running.

No one mentions religion. Israel & Jews in general have identified culturally and spiritually with that land for about 8,000 years. They're not going anywhere no matter what anyone says. And they would without a seconds hesitation take the Sampson option. During the 1967 war when they were on the brink of being overrun they were going to go nuclear. Don't think they wouldn't consider again. Make no mistake a decision was made at the highest levels of goverment and military the day of October 7 that the only solution was the elimination of Palestine. This is where we are at and why this is all happening.

I couldn't agree with you more... But that inherent belief in the God given right to own a parcel of land isn't unique to Isreal mate.
