Not my league LFC. As I said, I support football in Australia. Can’t stand AFL and NRL. Liverpool in England. Sabah FC in Malaysia (especially when they play against Melaka FC. And before I get attacked for being anti-Greek, that’s a city in Malaysia with a great name).
haha lets not talk afl we will upset many of our fellow southerners for on the record many know where I stand there.
We can all agree its hard to read people/posts intent and I'm sure H_bw is a good passionate bloke as well not to personally attack the passion runs fast sometimes by many of us me incl.
I think why we jump there is always the comparo of the APL whereas the NPL live on fumes and banishment so comaring anything as mentioned by someone apples and oranges.
IMO the original AL led many down a path of make believe and to this day, our game was never going to meet the costs and expected crowds what was sold to the License's let alone the new supporter base that is fickler than NSL/NPL crowds.
They sold it very well professionally - had to but the proof is in the pudding not just post covid it was scaling down 3/4yrs pre covid.
The writing was on the wall.
Our game just needed a strong leader bring it together/Feds and all and the supporter base would have tagged along.
Not these over sized grounds, a decent broadcaster, fix up the grounds that needed attention.
Build that platform, good ground experience but importantly local clubs mixed with some new ones if needed that would have been far more affordable and a safer base to build on.
Pro 1 then 2 then 3 as things grew in time, Japan did JL2 in 6yrs.
Sadly we in NPL land have been up a creek without a paddle but you still survive as proven, AL/APL is in a different boat that without massive $$$'s is like the cars of today and other commodities, could be a throw away IF those ogarlords jump overboard/or broadcaster not sufficient enough for how else is those clubs going to survive ? for eg regos/Jnrs/bbq's and club football ? doubt it eh.
