Summer of Cricket thread

As a massive cricket nuffie over many decades, gotta call out the crop of exciting next genners we have coming thru our pathways, with bat and ball. Unknowns a couple of years ago before they announced themselves in a big way as winners of the U19 WC and U19 Junior Ashes, these kids now sit on the threshold of a probable Test career. Names like the already mentioned Hugh Weignen, Harry Dixon, Mahli Beardman, Charlie Anderson, Callum Vidler, Joel Davies, Raf MacMillan and Sam Konstas of course, probably others I have missed too. Then there are the younger prospects Aidan O'Connor, Louis Smith, Ollie Peak, Simon Budge, Riley Kingsell, Lincoln Hobbs, Addison Sheriff, Steven Hogan. To name a few. All I can say is Aussie cricket looks in good hands for the next generation plus.
Thanks for the updated scouting reports.

You watch a lot of cricket at all ages, Baggers.

Aussies with a rare tour whitewash of the Caribbean, winning the Tests 3-0 then the T20s 5-0. How sweet it is.👌

T20s were middle of the night to me

Highlights looked brilliant from oz

When the kids come out to play. An Aussie U19 side will take on India U19 in dual Youth Tests in September/October, the reciprocal to the Aussie tour last year. CA has to produce typical fast bouncy Aussie tracks if we wanna smash the Indians.

Hahahaha poms lost by 6 runs after only needing 35 odd with 6 wickets in hand. Suck shit after their carry on the other day in the 4th.
They say they do bazball to make the game more entertaining

Then they want to end a match early when there are still people enjoying the match in the stands

To be fair losing 6 for 29 in the fourth when the series is on the line is pretty entertaining, so maybe they win a moral victory

We will need to regenerate soon! How is the next crop of youngsters
Not quite up to the standard of the previous crop that won both the Junior Ashes and U19 WC. We are now seeing their best making their way into first class cricket. The kids above lost to India last yr and at this stage of their careers are only club/grade standard , tho expect some to be starting 2nd X1 this season.

Some players kick on whilst others stagnate after their teen years, Baggers.

Yep. Talent is only part of the scenario that turns a boy into a man. Dedication and persistence are paramount traits for a cricketer to possess, any sports person for that matter.

None from Tassie is pretty sad. Only the two from WA. Lincoln Hobbs, who I chose missed the cut. You guys heard of the Basil Sellers Emerging Player award conducted in my state every two yrs. Four of them, John James, Alex Lee Young, Yash Deshmukh, Casey Baron are BS scholars for 25/26.
