G&G FC Pod: #17 - Aussies Abroad: 2025-26 Season Preview (feat. James Jarvis)

I can barely keep up with these Podcasts!

I've run out of ironing (hope you are pulling your ironing weight, LFC) and don't need any longer trips to more distant beaches to walk the dog whilst I listen.

Loving the Podcasts!

Loved all the information league by league of all the potential Euroroos.

James, Alex and Grazor's voices are all uniquely different.

I think it is important to guard against Aussie players being defined by UEFA coaches and player agents.

When I've seen players like for like, often better players for national teams, and rated by Aussie national team coaches, some haven't gone on to European leagues of the stature one would expect, given some of the ops offered to team-mates.

Another issue appears to be long seasons in Europe. It is too hard for some quality players to play 40 game plus seasons.

McGree, Robertson, Nieuw, et al, are good players, but their bodies may not be robust enough to play long seasons.? They might need to move leagues with shorter seasons.

Alex and James are very confident predicting the seasons that players will have. There are always heaps of surprises and shocks in any given season.

I'm a bit surprised that Callum Elder has been overlooked for so long by Socceroo coaches? I don't think I've seen him play? I think he has played a lot of English Champ football.

Confident predictions in such a chaotic game is part of the fun of football

We will revisit them at the end of the season :)
