G&G FC Pod: #20 - Inside the Delays Holding Back the NST (feat. Nick Galatas, Michael Lynch, SMFC Mike & Pete)

Each club needed $1 million dollars????!! $1 MILLION DOLLARS!!! With that sized outlay, they should be going ahead with a pro 8 team league and pro/rel with A-League!

Sounds like FA changed their mind from making it pro, now they want semi-pro. If that's the case, clubs should only need a fraction of that $1m and finding 12-16 teams should not have been an issue!

I feel like these are all delay tactics by the powers, and one day we'll end up with a working solution that looks a lot like Galatas' report from half a decade ago haha!

It certainly does feel like delay tactics, and if that is the intent that would make sense giving the voting structure of congress.

Great work!! I haven't finished it yet but at this stage the input from Nick Galatas has been brilliant. I must admit not being close to a NPL club I probably haven't seen all the history and he laid it out so well.

Nick made a good point about other sceptic always always demanding a normative scenario - what ought to be the case.

Whilst they should be dealing with the empirical - what is the case.

He also set out that by constantly knocking the second tier back, there is no chance to evaluate it as a working model.

Michael Lynch mentioned the concept being raised in 2011.

Nick also raised the scenario of a team like CCM dropping back to second tier possibly being a positive one.

I don't like the current mooted paradigm of 4 NSW and 4 Vic clubs comprising a second tier - at all.
