World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

Mooy in the Championship and Huddersfield's first EPL season was unbelievable. Many on the Hudds forum said he was the best player ever to wear their shirt.

He's certainly better off the ball than on... Sorry.

Some of the Sunderland fans reckon he's good enough already for the EPL. Hard to say but plenty of others have gone from the SPL to the EPL and done well straight away. At 21 Triantis has a very high ceiling.

For anyone in doubt about Triantis' quality, the Sunderland fans are watching him closely and lamenting the fact he's not already wearing their colours. They can't wait for next year.

Didn't understand Yengi's suspension was served four matches ago? Dear oh dear...

Triantis is in supreme form right now - some observers rate him the best player in the SPL right now. Mind you, Balard had some of the best stats in all of Europe when last picked, but didn't play. If he doesn't play Triantis my interest in the Poparoos will nosedive.

Didn't Jedi have several seasons in the EPL for both Crystal Palace and Aston Villa? Don't think Grella was captain for a Serie A team, was he?

Interesting question. I'd say Grella was a superior technician but Jedinak had a bigger impact on the team. Hard to fit them both in... horses for courses?

The "slightly better" is very much down to interpretation. Anyone who thinks Balard only "slightly better" than Teague or Nisbet "slightly better" than Caceres or Toure "slightly better" than Taggart or ANYONE "slightly better" than Irankunda does not have a fucking clue. Popa is either...

    Sorry, misinterpreted you.

I suspect your point is (kinda) fair enough. It's just that for all his poor touch, Jedinak won every ball in the air and defended like a demon. Must've been truly inspirational to play with and never missed a penalty (I believe) in his entire professional career. Irvine has scored some...

I know you're a Victory supporter but to put Teague alongside Triantis ... and even Nieuwenhof? They are two of the very best players in the SPL right now (some say Triantis is THE best player in the SPL) and while none of us think much of the SPL as a technical league it is far beyond the AL...

Teague has had a decent season but to pick him ahead of Balard is madness.

Who's getting more time than Nisbet playing at that latitude?

Can be all sorts of reasons for that - not least the adjustment to the Scottish conditions - in the far north.

And a lot of this is down to Nisbet. Their forum is not big or active but you will definitely find comments about Nisbet's class and ability to set up chances.

Nice little backpedal for the first to lose his marker. I'll be deeply peeved if he's not selected.

Well, it's all about opinions but you've not been keeping up with Balard's and Triantis' careers. Both (esp Triantis) are winning frequent MOTM awards - Balard is one of the most effective players in the Eredivisie and Triantis is proving week after week that he's too good for the SPL. The SPL...
