    A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 25

Adelaide have three keepers, and the one with the least experience played against Sydney. Vartuli. In fact he was making his senior debut. Was this a decision by Veart, or did circumstances cause it? If it was Veart's decision he should be sacked.

    Goalkeeping let them down too.

    A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 25

WTF- Probably the most important game of the season and Veart plays our least experienced goal keeper.

    Matildas v South Korea

Van Egmond didn't score, it came off the Korean defender's head.

    Matildas v South Korea

Matildas have to improve in the second half. Uninspiring so far. Maybe Fowler on for one of the anonymous forwards.

Ryan Reynolds-owned Wrexham set to face Melbourne Victory

I can remember Bournemouth touring as a 3rd division side in the 70s - still drew crowds against state teams.

The Lusetich book is a great read. The Paul Wade book has some useful stats at the end (I think) Some good pictures in the Soccer in Australia book.

How is her recovery taking so long? Doesn't it usually take a year to recover from ACL?

Do results matter at youth tournaments - some data analysis

It was exactly the same 30-35 years ago, when the Young Socceroos were the flagship of Australian soccer (as the senior Socceroos were "failures".) SBS had direct coverage of every Young Socceroos game on TV, qualifiers and finals. Whilst Eddie Thomson facilitated the moves of Paul Okon and...

Haven't read it for over 20 years! I liked the early part, but got boring after the 74 world cup, especially the faffing over Brazil.

Toure - our best CF prospect since Viduka?

I actually thought so at the time- Babalj had the same laid back self composure as Viduka, and a similar style on the ball. All an illusion of course as his career went nowhere.

Toure - our best CF prospect since Viduka?

Never mind your "game times" and sheets of statistics. This observation was made by people simply watching him play.

Toure - our best CF prospect since Viduka?

I can remember when Babalj was hailed as "the next Viduka". Whatever happened to him?

Chippers started in the socceroos as a left winger before being switched to full back. May have scored most of his goals in that role.

World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

Indonesian fans are apparently furious at the appointment of Kluivert as coach, and recruiting Dutch mercenaries as players.

Which Book Are You Reading thread

Joe Gorman's book was a good read, but left me with an empty feeling. Interestingly, he moved away from writing about soccer and went on to cover other sports. Paul Mavroudis, SMH fan, to this day has not attended an A League game.

    soccer world

Hosie was getting chased by hostile crowds quite often. There were referee strikes in Adelaide in the 50s and 60s, as they got sick of being screamed at and abused. Ex players and federation officials would have to step in and referee at the last minute. The notorious player Eddie Virba was...
