From personal experience, I have found the opposite, but maybe it's the people I know or met. Compare them with Israelis is chalk and cheese, most people with links to Israel would be happy to see the end of people in Palestine for example. These are just my own personal experiences though as...

I am talking about the people on the street there, once you spend 5 minutes with them, they tell you how much they hate their government despite the personal danger to them. I have not found that in many other places with questionable governments, sizeable porprotions still support them.

I have been to a lot of countries, and I'd say Iranians were probably the most friendly of anywhere I have been. And they overwhelmingly do not support their regime.
