Technically MV don't need to win the comp. If SM, Preston and Avondale are 1st, 2nd and 3rd, then MV could qualify finishing 4th. It's obviously unlikely, but technically possible. In NSW, an A-League team could qualify by finishing 5th. Again, unlikely, but possible.

I find this really disappointing. I was no fan of Lowy Jr & Gallop, but at least they fronted up to the media for things like this. They didn't usually have the answers we wanted to hear, but at least they showed up to take the questions.
