Is the content as dumb as the title for those with access?

These guys have got nothing positive to say about the league or Aus football, so frustrating we have football media that cant even support the game and find the positives its so toxic ffs.

On selling young player overseas, weren't they complaining a time where the league wasn't developing players for the overseas leagues? Now they are complaining the leagues around the world are liking our players again lol.

This affects all of Australian football reagarding the minimum number of matches required in a league season to participate in Asia. This allows the A-League to reduce league matches from 26 to 23 if they wish. Similar with all lower leagues and federations. From memory, I think AFC includes Cup and Finals matches towards the count.

Shortening our season will not help us, we need more games given the league is about developing and selling players for overseas now.

APL have not even started doing its draft fixture release both men and women for 2025/26 season as per Wellington Phoenix it says on their website plus another thing to take into account that Football Australia usually releases domestic match calendar first priority is about two weeks before ALM fixture drops in previous years worth taking consideration.

They have definitely started drafting it.

Is anyone else really worried about the teams that Western United and Central coast roll out next season?

They wont be competitive at all if things remain as they are.

I assume the hold up, at least partially, is on the APL waiting to see if WU even can compete next season.. They wouldn't want to complete the draw and the have to go back and create a whole seasons full of forfeits.

Joseph Esposito's response to the fans demanding fixtures (he's now PR & Communications at Brisbane Roar).

170+ matches. More than 15 stadiums with multiple sports to factor in.

It is easily the biggest piece of work undertaken each year.

Get that fans want the fixtures, I do to and in an ideal world APL would want it done now too but there is so much to factor in when you include venue availability, concerts, weather, timezones, Asian competition etc (example AFC Women's Asian Cup early next year big factor in play over at HBF Park and CommBank Stadium).

Not to mention balancing clubs requests.

hence exactly why i would not be saying too much if i was anyone m who criticize APL it will be what it is.

That's why its best to sit back wait on the official announcements from Football Australia domestic match calendar media release which was Friday July 18th last year (ALM fixture announcement was Friday August 2nd last year).

Fair call... in the same breath though each and every member federation goes through exactly the same process every year only on a massively bigger scale with ALL of the leagues they administer...

Considering we have the longest off season in the world & it's not starting until October-ish a couple more weeks won't make much difference.
Even though we have a long offseason we still have Australia Cup fixtures that span most of the offseason and preseason, unlike other leagues which have their cup competitions in season.

This is true & I'm sure whatever perceived scheduling delays with the timetable are due to ground availability due to our eggball friends rather than the amount of games we are playing. Even with Australia Cup the amount of games played still give us an inordinately long off season.
