How oil money and oligarchs are shaping the sale of Foxtel

From a content persepective, trying to see what that means for Australia. Media release mentions keeping the 'entertainment' side of things, so not sure if it will go down the way of Stan or something picking up things like Foxtel's HBO content in the future, and DAZN/Foxtel only keeping sports.

Could entirely be possible that there's no more Kayo, and the sports content there heads to DAZN AU, with all the entertainment stuff staying on Binge as a standalone subscription.

I would assume things that the UK has the rights to would be the first to jump across to the new DAZN AU/Kayo set up (when contracts come up of course) which would mean:
  • Women's Italian football
  • Women's French football
  • Saudi league
  • USL Super League (some breakaway Women's comp in the US considered equal with NWSL by the US)
  • French basketball
  • PFL MMA
  • Indian Premier League Cricket (already on Foxtel I think)

To be honest I'm interested in none of those things and I don't know anyone that is either.

DAZN have the rights to the Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1 which are interesting.

I want someone to show the AL, EPL, Championship, SPL, Jupiler Lig, Danish Superliga, Eredivisie, Swiss Super League.

That's the holy grail, all the Aussies Abroad.

Thanks for the info above. Dazn can be used with vpn to get access of their different markets but they'll likely be putting tech in to prevent it. I can generally get Canadian or Japanese market rights for certain European Leagues not shown in Germany.

DAZN is good in how it pays and adds sports channels you'd normally need satellite for. E.g. Sportdigital. So imagine BEIN just gets added on. Decent in the at way. Annoyingly their prices just keep going up and up and their losses have been in the billions.

NFL game pass is on there now. I wonder if they'll put all Australian sport under a dazn banner or it'll be Foxtel but just dazn owned.

I know most people watch TV with an internet connection but these crappy apps and software don't help the experience. Cable costs aren't fun either.

Get a good IPTV and you dont have to worry about any of this shit
My brother in law showed me some guy on Telegram to who he pays 100 Euro per year & via IPTV ( or something similar, I think ) he gets literally anything you can think of including all European leagues & the American NBA Disney & Netflix & a bunch of other stuff with a full customised TV guide and interface in very good quality. I'd go for it however the problem is it's literally all in Italian which is a problem for this Strayan right here. God knows how they do it these randoms.

100 euros is too much

Not really. About 160 dollars per year for all leagues and other sports as well. I'd pay it if I spoke the language.

There is a lot of cheap things, found this free pack of a lot of stuff for.... I can't remember the app for my TV now. Not Stremio (although was able to get all US channels, literally almost any US channel, live on Stremio). Was a different one. Even picks up Fox Sports AU and BeIN AU

I pay 10 euro a month for everything. Basically have any channel in the world. Main event too - I do mine through STB - which is an app that turns your digital tv into a set top box

If you search online through Instagram, telegram or even facebook you can find people offering them. I have a hook up through a friend otherwise I'd share the details

It's just garbage and greedy how complicated sport TV has become.

Through this, things like IPTV have come about. The big companies have vowed to shut it down and charge people but I'm yet to see them putting their foot down. Some who host and provide the product have been gaoled.

If a fair priced subscription model were set up, the masses would get it. You wonder what may come of Netflix and Amazon entering the sports market. These big companies have income streams from other business areas so sport streaming may be offered at a low rate, certainly not a loss leader.

DAZN in Germany have gone from 10€ to 45€ a month in the space of 5 years basically swapping EPL right for UCL. Add some NFL and one or two European Leagues but it's not superior value for the price.

The Bundesliga rights in Germany were all on sky but the federal cartel authority came out and said it's against regulation for one provider to have everything. Monopolies aren't good but most providers are just shit and nowhere near the quality we should be these days.

There is an aussie who does this. Based in Sydney I believe. They gave me a trial run, but I only have 25mbps so it would often buffer.
