Indian super league

That’s sad to hear, esp. in the wider context of the ISL having dropped the ball over the past few years (the introduction of pro/rel between it and the former first-tier I-League notwithstanding).

It’s great from a PR perspective that the comp has been a mainstay of the last few FIFA/EAFC games, but it’s prob not enough.

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season remains uncertain following the August 7, 2025, meeting between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and representatives of ISL clubs. The AIFF proposed holding the Super Cup in the second or third week of September to ensure ISL clubs get competitive matches, with the tournament likely concluding before India's AFC Asian Cup qualifying fixtures on October 9 and 14. AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey expressed hope that the ISL could proceed in the 2025-26 season, potentially with changes to its format or schedule, but no final decision was made. Another meeting is scheduled in 7-10 days to finalize the ISL's status. The uncertainty stems from unresolved negotiations over the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) between the AIFF and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), which expires on December 18, 2025, and a pending Supreme Court verdict on the AIFF’s draft constitution. Some clubs, like Mohun Bagan Super Giant, did not attend the meeting, citing the lack of progress without a court ruling, while others, including East Bengal and FC Goa, participated.
