The ‘old’ FFA failed to capitalise on so many positives.so sad that nothing much really came after this... waited so long to actually host something, let alone win it...![]()
That was such a good night. I watched it at the Reef Casino in Cairns. It was packed with Aussies and Koreans. The result was amazing. I remember the casino had a black out sometime later as everyone was kicking on. No one cared. We headed into town later in our Australia kits and had backpackers and tourists shouting us drinks all night haha.Luongo goal posted to socials. This is awesome. Watched it in the flat I've just left. When Troisi scored I punched the wooden floor boards. Felt so relieved.
When Son scored I was pacing around and needed a big ice water. High boot in build up though. Ref was a joke at times.
FWIW, and yes, The FA have made some diabolical errors in using this as a springboard, a lot of countries just can't use or sustain a tournament win for commercial purposes. England women are still incredibly popular but there are some backslides in crowds or media attention. The German men's team were done by 2018, only 4 years after winning a WC. I guess after the peak it's always downhill. I remember Euro 2016 even feeling awkward and odd. Commercially, domestically and successfully, Italy, need we say more? That was such a good night. It's just a good moment to enjoy. It's nothing solid to build anything from.FWIW, and yes, The FA have made some diabolical errors in using this as a springboard, a lot of countries just can't use or sustain a tournament win for commercial purposes. It's frustrating we didn't see mass fruit of it but even with proper management, it seemingly takes a lot to get so many people to stick. These examples above are apples and oranges in certain respects but a general trend is there.
oh amazing. We should meet up next time I visit my mum. Sadly don't have the money to go too often!I live in Cairns now. I grew up in Victoria though which is why I support Victory.
