Major Matildas announcement

Heard it's Polkinghorne joining the training staff.

There are a couple of photos of him on a suit and he's spitting image of Joe Pesci in Goodfellas where he looked ready to snap.

Would love someone underperforming to say he's funny. Funny how? :D

Well he just as Sermanni would know the WL is sub standard or more so stagmeneted for a long time, hope he can influence many changes to improve it for its the heart of growth development for the future NT.
Wish him well and the task he has with the Matildas for the coming cycles are huge.

He's under contract through the end of the LA 2028 Olympic cycle so we'll have Montemurro at the helm for the next three major tournament cycles including the remainder of this one and already he wants to change the brand of football the Matildas are playing; hopefully it pans out well.

Oh look I'm not doubting him.

I'm doubting the culture of the team as to why it took so long to get a coach willing to do the job.

I tell you what he must have a) negotiated hard b) demanded total autonomy over selection & c) demanded total culture cleanout. There is no other way, some of these entitled persons who are still in the team and still around the team caused the last two coaches to not reach the teams full potential.

yes I know hence my comment looking ahead.
He's got a job/project, ofcourse he will implement his style of play - last I checked WNT rankings we 16th give or take a spot.
Argies whom we recently played ranked 33rd - messy game with glimpes here and there of decent play.
Glad he's got the gig and I'd say other NT's at least will feel they are up against a good coach ahead.

I think that mindset is long time water under the bridge for most but the small %.
WE all, well I'd hope so like seeing our NT's do well no matter the gender.
I think like the Roos, expectations are higher than they can achieve.
 
Great appointment, they took a long time to get a coach in but at least it’s a good one.

Do we know the style of football he coaches? Under Gustafson it wasn’t a well coached side so hopefully he can improve especially tactically.

He said that they will be playing attacking football so hopefully no more passing sideways and back to the keeper.
