NPL 2025

They go by the name “Melbourne srbija” now don’t they? Bit of a unique one, I believe they were fitzroy, then took over the former facility of Richmond (a now defunct German club), then changed their name to Melb Serbia.

Something like that atleast. seem to have displaced Springvale as the big Serb club in Melb

Would be interesting to know if any former Footscray JUST people have migrated over to the likes of these
According to serbs i've spoken to Springvale are supposedly Yugoslav while Fitzroy and Westgate were always the true Serb clubs.

Richmond and fitzroy were meant to merge then covid happened... melbourne srbija becomes a thing and Richmond's history gets bought by afghans and went defunct. Club lost 31-1 in the SL3 reserves last weekend

Its started out as a Geelong bid ... "Patriots" or some such shit didn't it?
Different bids but i would assume certain people were involved in both. But up until the 11th hour the club was going to be marketed as a western suburbs team not Western united. It's obvious who was behind the change.

I think had they gotten their identity correct first season as a primarily west melbourne team in name, playing mostly out of footscray instead of just 1 game there or at somers street etc, they would have been a success... i would have got behind them for sure. Or at least they would have overtaken City by now

Something that I have always thought is although Lambert Park is APIA's spiritual home but let's be honest that "grandstand" is a rusty disgrace. They should just play all their games at Leichhardt Oval.

I believe they plan to for the championship. Honestly Leichhardt might even be a better suited venue for Sydney Olympic too tbh as opposed to kograh, they do have prior history playing out of it. Unsure if Leichhardt will at some point be unavailable soon, a full revamp is planned

Seems that way, is that basically a mathematical certainty now?
Mathematically 1 loss away...... survival on remaining 12 points would require 4 wins (with all results going their way (complete losses for the 3 above them in the last 4!
A south win against Altona would mean they could only theoretically catch Altona to survive whonwould also then be 1 win away from relegating knights.

Couple of tough games coming up as well by the looks of it, as good as gone it seems. Ah well, hopefully they can reboot in npl 2, maybe that’s better than another mediocre year in the top flight

Heidelberg United marching on towards the NPL Victoria premiership and a spot in the Australian Championship with a 3-0 win over Green Gully to go two games clear of Avondale who still have a game in hand.

JA has that team rolling onwards and upwards this season, thats for sure!

One take away from the game though was the commentry........clearly Bergers are dominating week in week out, 20 odd chances on goal 3 goals that shouldve been 5+ and a gully that parked the bus for 45 mins.... yet if you go off the one sided calling from that Katie Lambeski, you wouldve thought Gully were some European powerhouse and that game shouldve gone differently... she even called the offsides as chances to try show us how good Gully performed! ... I couldnt help but laugh.

Lambert Park is one of my favourite grounds in the NPL.

Nice and close to the action.

Just get Tony and his council buddies to redevelop the grandstand. Lol

Goodnight to knights.

Think the current bottom 3 are going down

It's definitely done.

Im hearing mixed messages, can someone from Melbourne confirm, is it 3 down automatically or 2 down + 1 play-off.

NPL 2 in Victoria is 2 automatically up and 3-6 championship play-off?

Got to give credit to the knights fans last night.

Stayed back had a few drinks despite the rough situation theyre in.

Hopefully a quick trip to npl 2 and then theyre back.

One of the goals of the season for South Hobart today, from inside their own half and bounced over the keeper hahaha
