Matildas defence is slow and ponderous, disorganised and completely lacks any urgency. I couldn’t comment on how they are in possession yet, because they can’t hold on to the ball long enough to assess.

There has been no ongoing regeneration in the Matildas team over the past few years. Of the starting team here, Hunt and Cooney-Cross are the most recent additions, and they have been regulars for the last 2 years at least. So many of the other players have been regular starters for many years. It appears that the only way old players leave the team is to retire (eg Polkinghorn).
This points to our female youth development being poor to non-existent. Why is this happening? Particularly when the male youth development seems to be improving significantly, compared to the past.

The problem with the Tillies is the FFA/FA shouldn't have listened to Heather Reid and De Vanna. Everything has gone to poop ever since Stajcic got sacked.

All I can say is I hope Heather Reid and the other cow involved in Stajcic's sacking are happy. They've absolutely burned this current Golden Generation of Matildas.

The people involved in that fiasco should be barred from ever holding a position in football ever again.

Did not expect to see the Matildas regress so much going into the current major tournament cycle. It doesn't bode well for us a year out from the 2026 Women's Asian Cup at home. Hopefully we can bounce back and do better against the USA at State Farm Stadium in a couple days' time.

3 shambles of goals for them.

Japan looked like they were playing a bunch of 15 year olds.

its beggears belief whats going on at the womens grass roots - Rep to APLW that hardly any newbies have been blooded in the last 2yrs at least.
Seriously the participation has been booming for quite sometime now as we all know.
One of my local NPL ovals Sundays are full of womens rep games, some pretty damn good ones I have seen being the mens NPL's are playing on the opposite pitch.
1yr out of the Asian Cup no way can newbies be ready to take on experienced and well run other NT's.
