The Australian XI for the second Test against the West Indies has been named. Steve Smith is back, and Josh Inglis has been dropped. Still no Marnus Labuschagne in the XI, but Konstas and Cam Green are retained.
Great!

Didn't realise you are also a cricket fan, RF!

Welcome to this section!

Just looked at stumps for Test 2 in Grenada. Aus all out for 286.

Media focusing on low scores of top 4. However, Green and Konstas made high 20s, and given they are the youngest players in the team and they are improving - good! Usman and Smith scored few runs- but from watching the ancient Ussie in in the First Test, I think he is still batting well enough. He just needs to be removed from 1st slip.

Also, all 5 bowlers, including Webster, are in their 30s, so we need some bowling regeneration soon, despite the great form and ability of the Dad's Army Aus attack.

Webster made another 60 odd, with Carey making another quick fire half ton. Webster was run out as 8th wicket to fall. He was longest at the crease for the Aussies for 100 odd balls.

Carey scored runs very quickly in yet another cavalier innings. His catch diving to his left off Webster for a dismissal in the First Test was incredible!

The pitch was again doing a lot - and - as is common in the WI, bad light stopped play.

Was travelling back from poland so only caught the text updates. Hopefully a tricky wicket again!

WI bowling is pretty high standard but their batting(like ours) is very brittle.

Our very geriatric team ( bowling and batting) will need to be overhauled in the next two years. Are there many good young players coming through the ranks and I am talking about Test cricket not the 20 rubbish?

I am a dinosaur as regarding limited overs cricket, especially the 20 overs variety. It seems you could have a bowling machine at each end as the bowlers seem to be just there to provide deliveries for the batters to smash with very unorthodox shotmaking. For most of my life sixes were rare and to be appreciated but now they are common fare and though spectacular at the time are easily forgotten. The same goes for the results of many 50 over games and for nearly all 20 over games. Many would disagree with me and in these times of many people having limited concentration I can see the appeal of the very limited over format.

Australia just with their noses in front at 4 for 110ish
Wicket doesnt look too bad to bat on but a special catch from cummins created a wicket from nowhere

Pitch does'nt have the same volitility as the first match for mine. Testiment being spin is on early and wickets are falling to it. Agree Aussies in front by a whisker.

Up early to catch some late play. Good knocks by Cameron Green and evergreen legend Steve Smith has kept us in the contest. Head just dismissed so is now up to a rejuvenated Alex Carey and the bowlers lift us to a 300 innings lead.

Glad Green has scored 50, Baggers!

300 should be enough to defend.

Australia won the second Test against the West Indies by 133 runs on day four to take an unassailable 2-0 lead. We have the chance to sweep the series next week in the third and final Test before the five T20s get underway.

Thanks, RF.

Was just about to search for details of this last day. Also, excellent short article on EVE!

more than enough - 1st test over in 3days if I recall right and this witnin 4days.
Gone are Tests going 5day slogs of old.
Glad we won but yer Windies been struggling for years - oh how they wish for another golden Lloyd gen of bat and ball terreirs.
Man that the last the windies were a force.

Was a very composed one too DC, say the league scribes.
Had a look at the 35 min highlights package last night on YT. Both Smith and Green played some good shots. In the context of the match both batters starred.

Green was furious with himself when he was out. The camera had some close ups.

I think the media and fans on FB have been overly savage on all of Usman, Green, Konstas and Inglis, as the top 4.

My greatest concern is moving Usman out of the slips, when Webster and Smith are such good close in catchers.

Not sure how much you saw, but from what I've read and discussed offline with my Tas Cricket Member mates, both the first two Tests have see sawed. Two other Tas Crick Members are there watching live too in both Barbados and Grenada.

One of the members still here, stays up most of the night watching every ball. He has played for Tas too. So his insights are pretty good.

I think if Windies had held their catches they would have won Test 1, LFC.

To their credit they also beat us in Aus earlier this year, drawing the series 1-1. They have a resurgent attack - both of the Josephs and Seales are quality pace bowlers. Their keeper is good too. I think the Windies are on the way back.

The Grenada crowds are really small! Why is this?

Good to see that you like cricket , LFC. Keep posting!
