Best prospect SINCE VidukaWhat are we up to now in the " ........... is the next Viduka" count? Must be at least 30 players associated with that headline?

This is a different headline to be fair
He does have the 3rd best start to his career in Europe in our history if I'm not mistaken?
Still a big gap between him and viduka/aloisi at the same age, but probably worth noting he is ahead of Kennedy and mcdonald
I agree.. Back then clubs prioritised cultural adaptibility over player quality eg English clubs buying English speakers, Italian ubs with Italian speakers, as well as there were simply less foreigners in the big leagues. The big 4 leagues have almost become super leagues, very rare now for an ajax, Porto, even less Red star or Bucharest or Aberdeen to win the champions league. You could argue its 10x harder to break into those leagues now than when Aloisi and Dukes were around.
But he is on a similar trajectory. They sold their last forward to West Brom so there is a pathway there but I'd rather see him go to a bigger club in Belgium or France rather than England just yet.
Not sure what pulling him out of the club to play u23s does. He should be a socceroos option now imo.
Babalj had about two months of looking absolutely devastating for City (or was it Heart back then). I particularly remember a header he scored diving away from the goal - I can't begin to say how difficult that is to do.I actually thought so at the time- Babalj had the same laid back self composure as Viduka, and a similar style on the ball. All an illusion of course as his career went nowhere.
@grazorbladeWe gonna beat China grazor? Add to our thrashing of Indonesia. Socceroos now brimming with confidence and insisting they will earn a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
One minor rant. What happened to our classy gold jumpers. The current one of yellow with aquamarine stripes is oh so ordinary as style goes. And who decided that this blue/green was suddenly our national color when bottle green has always been.
Thanks for responseHaha yeah the new kits aren't popular
Football is really unpredictable and home ground advantage is huge
Poppa has gone for a weaker squad partly due to injuries and partly because he wants players who know him enough to implement a complicated game plan
It worked a treat last game, pressure is on for it to work again. If we win and Japan win we are almost home
Yeah it means that out of 27 possible results next round,we qualify in 24 of themIs this 2-0 win over China a big deal grazor or do the Socceroos need more to qualify?
@grazorblade
I would to see more Aussies try their luck in those kind of leagues, otherwise it will just limit on their club choices of language.I agree.. In case of Aloisi he spoke fluent English and Italian, and held aussie and Italian passports making him very attractive to British and Italian clubs.. Ditto Viduka with Croatian and British clubs.
Any article that doesn't have Mohamed Toure as an option is hard to take seriously. Also missed Stamatelopolous, Iredale, Waddingham, Jovanovic, Goodwin. ABC sucks at football which is ironic given their flagship sports program is called the offsiders. Thanks for sharing!![]()
Socceroos solutions: Where is the next great Australian goal scorer?
After an undeniably successful international window, the Socceroos are on the doorstep of World Cup qualification. But their first-choice number nine is yet to reveal himself. These are the centre-forwards vying to lead Australia's line.www.abc.net.au
You can be offside in Rugby union/League. However, I get your drift on ABC.Any article that doesn't have Mohamed Toure as an option is hard to take seriously. Babalj was an odd one. He looked so promising early, played for Australia at what, 20? Then, nothing.I can remember when Babalj was hailed as "the next Viduka". Whatever happened to him?
I had much the same thought mate!Any article that doesn't have Mohamed Toure as an option is hard to take seriously. Also missed Stamatelopolous, Iredale, Waddingham, Jovanovic, Goodwin.
