The NBA is in a interesting position

I still watch the best of Jordan on YouTube. It shits over everything on offer in the NBA today.

I wonder if this opinion and the ratings drop is generational. As a 90s kid growing up with the best sporting icons in multiple sports, it's hard to be as attracted to some sports today. The 00s were better too. Even though I still occasionally watch, today's "stars" are dull robots, not a lot of individual sporting IQ and genius.

Jordan
Schumacher
Lockett\Ablett\Ablett Jr
Lomu
Federer
Messi and the sheer amount of magical stars in the 90s and early 00s.
Bolt

Yeah we've had a few records breakers since, but today's era as a whole is nowhere near the battles of yore.

Or am I the old man yelling at clouds now?

didn't I open a Other Sports interest thread sometime back ?!
Can this be shifted linked mods please :)

Yeah, I get what you mean. Depends on the sport though, and of course as times go by, metrics change.

true and I'm surprised that MCG hadn't done his research for he's normally pretty good :)

When the threads aren't used in a while they go to the bottom and I forget about them

Will definitely keep it in mind for the future

Obviously metrics change but some are timeless.
I agree with HG.
No one is near Jordan imo and I’m No NBA fan but I watched the Netflix series brilliant.
He mentioned Schumacher - I agree modern times and Senna.
Pele
Maradona
Messi will be next for other CR7.
What footballers right now are at the heights today in their peak of these 2, none if anyone has any idea of football.
Tiger !
I’m sure I could up with other sports but for now that will do.

Yes true sad for those who have invested their time and the countless volunteers.
A business mate was very involved here in Sydney, played out sponsorship $ in to umpiring as he aged.
These are the types all sports need.

In saying that from my perspective.
WTF in this small originally Anglo country gravitate to some USA sports.
Yes I know it’s big in Japan and Latin merica but here ???
One the lack of numbers.
2 how many really care ?
Same applies for ice hockey.
There a rink built many moons ago at a large mall near my place.
Obviously people go casually to skate fall on your arse and or get hurt.
Like we’re ducks out of water.
There used to comp games on - how did that league survive ?!
Well it didn’t.
So I just don’t get into a sport that is foreign to us.
The only one to survive I see well will be BB.
No fan of it as well but the young gen’s are getting into it due to the USA influence.
