Come on what football forum doesn't have a rampant berr thread in it's off topic section??

Post all your beer dissertation gibberish here!

I bet there's a craft beer officianado or two 'round these parts?

Just come back from a 6 week Europe trip. The variety of beer and the affordability of it is a major bonus for a trip there. Just about any supermarket has a beer section better than Dan Murphys at literally 1/4 the cost, if not cheaper.

Drinking Paulener weissbeer for 1.50 euro and Belgium Leffe for 2.00 euro, Czech Budweiser for 1.30 euro etc etc.

I could go on and on.

Went to Vietnam this year where craft beer has really taken off. Because you're always looking at where to go out in a new city I just Googled those up and we started our nights out there. Generally craft brew places are funky and the people there are aficionados who are happy to spend their time talking about their brews.

I love craft beer but I'm not a craft beer wanker. Just as happy to have Tooheys new or whatever else is on tap as well as hit up craft breweries around the place.

Lol...There's certainly a number of 'craft beer wankers' around. I'm not rubbishing the culture of it but yeah.....they do go on about it a lot!

I agree on European beers. I think Spanish beer is most underrated. It's lighter (not in alcoholic measurement sense) and paler than Czech or German beer and a touch more refreshing

Big fan of Estella de Galicia, Cruzcampo and San Miguel Especial. Estella Damn which you can get in Dan Murphy's is pretty good too but nothing as good as the aforementioned.

'Craft beer wankers.....'

Gonna have to remember that one!!

Australian beer whether its mainstream, craft or whatever seems to have a lot more impurities and chemicals in it that never fails to make me feel ill. I don't find this with European beers.

James Boags and Cascade are particularly bad. After drinking a half dozen pints of Cascade one weekend in Hobart I was left wondering if they'd been putting industrial cleaning solution in it.....

Worst hangover I ever had was Oktoberfest. Heard non-stop how the purity laws meant you wouldn't get a hangover. What a bunch of arse that turned out to be.

in regards to Australian beer my statement is a truism, however wrt to European beer, its a generalisation. Of course I've had Duval and that makes me feel ill.

indeed those two, particularly Boags would be the most overrated slop in Australia. Absolute cats piss.

Gotten bigger on dark beers. Ales can be OK I England but some really are that warm. Love Wetherspoons prices on guest ales and the Shipyard Pale Ale is nice and cold and always cheap.

In Australia Coopers has to be the choice. I think it's the last Australian owed beer brand in a mainstream sense? All the microbreweries must be local or independent.

Oh my God they're conversing civilly!

That's what I've heard. Australian beers chuck a lot in to get in made faster and that's where the piercing headache comes from.

German beers definitely give a hangover. A range of factors.

2018 Australia Hungary away. Partner is German I'm Australian. Hungarian law won't let us enter either block together due to passports so we had to take a neutral zone ticket which they were guilty to sell us as it cost more.

Ha! 27€. After the ticket ordeal I was going to pay whatever having flown especially for the game. Hot day and went to get a water first. Asked the price. The girl said everything in this neutral area is included catering. Must have had 8 beers at the stadium and more in town. Woke up next morning and did the busy scan. Nothing! It was alcoholic before you claim it wasn't. Couldn't believe it. Didn't go to bed feeling overly shattered either but feeling good.

Such a great away trip.

Did an all nighter in Augsburg (lots of Augustiner) some Ouzo in there too after a late away win and the next morning I was just mumbling 'help' as we were shattered. Had one mate who was half alright and he kept going on at the Cafe how a big breakfast is the way to go. I bit half a croissant and then went downstairs sick. Train back was bliss in a way as I just passed out.

You mean German Augustiner? Might get myself a half litre bottle at the Kröpcke Kiosk pre game today. 2,80€ and crisp.
Yep only belgium beers in belgium or japanese beers in a japanese izakiya come close imo

Just an indication of just how that fuckin looks like. Even your grandma is 5 pints in by 10 oclock around this country, it's utterly unreal how much piss they sink here. Supermarkets have these bottle recyclers for you to get 7kc back per bottle and it's like the second pay day after dole day for everyone here. Me and my mrs call them 'the czech ATM'

beer is being taxed out of existence in Australia
