Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

Seen enough. Svilar isn't better than Ryan. Ryan has to get a go. Surely his distribution can be useful for Roma too. They're so rigid and slow.

Holman is one of the most unfairly maligned NT players imo. I think he suffered from being on the shoulder/just after the GG. Was judged really critically.
Nah I reject that. I was at the friendly v Dutch and I've never seen a poorer display from a pro footballer. Honestly seen junior park footballers display more skill than that. Utterly woeful.

I mean I witnessed him in my less mature times of understanding the game and was just baffled at what he was doing. I appreciate the breakdown people have given there was something there. Albeit there were moments that just made no sense.

I am glad to read that a few posters on this forum consider the SPL to be below average. When ever I read that a player is moving to the SPL, I tend to think that is the end of their career although they would earn more than in the A-League.

Yeah but Rangers drew with Spurs and they were dancing and celebrating with the fans like it was a trophy win post game so....

Needs a fresh environment

The only aussie in recent times to improve in Scotland is baccus, and even then I wonder if he improves quicker elsewhere. Strain might have improved too, not sure
i can't agree with that. Irvine, Triantis, Devlin, Strain all have made good progress in Scotland.

It's a stepping stone but also these players have a more robust play style. Nisbet is one who shouldn't have gone there. Silly submissive transfer behaviour. There had to be someone on the continent interested. Agent had to do better.

Similar to the Rowles discussion earlier, Holman had some bad games but overall had a good record with the NT. Holman has two world cup goals from open play to his name. Only Cahill has done better there.

I was going to say, Holman has some prestigious achievements to his name. A world cup goal is extremely valuable. Not everyone is going to score but someone like Bresciano didn't get one. If only against Chile...

I recall the story being the Dutch transfer they were holding out on fell through. It was likely a decision to move to Europe or stay home. He may not have had a Euro move available beyond Scotland. I hope he gets that Dutch move in a future window.

He definitely didn't have any option but Scotland. Every club in Oz would've jumped at Nisbet but he wanted an OS experience and also to put himself in the shop window. He's mostly doing well in fotmob ratings in a team that mostly loses.

I mean come on. Best player in the league, given where others have gone from the league, there had to be other suitors. Just do very well this season then get moving again I say.

My heart bled for him but that's the reality. If they're not already familiar with him they just can't see past his height.

He went to Scotland to back himself to (once again) prove the doubters wrong.

I did an analysis on 442 comparing it with other leagues with a similar elo. It was way worse at adding value to players. It has a very old school style which I think makes it harder to develop technically unless you are at the old firm or very young where any senior football is beneficial

Yeah bad idea, balard was weaker than him and is now killing it in a better league. Should've stayed another year and made a mark in asia
