I saw something recent about anti creepy old transgender men invading women's and girls toilets and change rooms. they clashed with the creepy old transgender men invading women's and girls toilets and change rooms. it made me feel furiously angry with rage and I am considering changing who I vote for.
The horror of it makes one want to move Russia.

Just trying to get my head around your party line. It seems to be shifting - one minute it's nobody, then it's family. Now aquatainces can use the unisex bathroom?

Unisex toilets are bad but with a caveat? What about in offices when they only have one bathroom?

You sound a little woke to me.
There seems to be some (deliberate) conflation between a single toilet in a separate room (such as many service stations and family homes) and larger mutli person toilets at larger public spaces, such as swimming pools and shopping centres.

I think it is disconcerting as a parent to have transgender persons sharing the latter with children, particularly girls.

Is it really an issue though? For example, a child is much more likely to get abused at a church/someone they know than going to the changeroom and a stranger doing it.

How many times a year do kids use public toilets, add into that the chances of having a - someone who is trans b - someone who is a sex offender. Barely non-existent chance of a trans attack you'd think (granted, one must always be alert in toilet blocks). Now, leaving your kid with a priest? Now that's a scary prospect,

The reality is our kids have probably shared a bathroom with a trans person. Now, a transvestite going into the male changerooms, that's a cause for alarm.

Also where do you draw the line? Should homosexuals be banned from male changerooms?

See previous page for stats regarding the rarity of this happening. Kids are overwhelmingly more in danger from people they know than a random transgender person that may or may not be a paedophile or sex offender.

It's because of this contrived and conflated hysteria about all of this sort of thing you can't even take a photo of your kid at a school swimming or athletics carnival. Absolutely ridiculous.

Go to just about any European country and no one gives two shits about being nude at swimming spots, saunas or hell even a public park. In Australia if you dropped your shorts for 3 seconds to whack on your speedos people would be screaming blue murder and calling the police. All this hand-wringing is just pathetic.

People need to grow up,

I'll answer that.

It's not.

The perceived 'danger' is so far out of whack with reality it defies common sense.

In the 60's at Bondi lifeguards were 'inspecting' womens bikinis in case they showed too much.

Yep.

And in the 70's and 80's girls went topless on the beach all the time. Was hardly an issue and no one cared except your Fred Nile types.

That's the thing about all of this though. When it's commonplace no one bats an eyelid or thinks twice about it.

It seems people are becoming more prudish over time in Australia. (Regards nudity. Everything else seems to get a free pass. Swearing around kids really grates on my ears to pick just one example.)

Generally speaking though at large multi-person toilet facilities the cubicles are split into 'male', 'female' and 'unisex'. Don't want to use the unisex toilet? Then don't. (And tell your kid not to.)

Not that it would matter because the toilets are generally single person cubicles.

A conversation for another place and time however you shouldn't be too surprised with this.... Every period of time after a world financial upheaval and war is followed by a couple of decades of staunch conservatism (at least in the west) .. Things are gonna get all "50s" for a while until the repression gets too much and then we'll have the new, new new hippies .... its all a gigantic wheel of fate dude....

I thought this was supposed to be a safe space?
There are some violently sick people in here.

Population decline is an international emergency, not a left or right issue.

Did I get the right thread?

If you're being serious it is going to be a massive challenge seeing the world's economy is predicated on endless growth.

In related news Japan is getting a long weekend so that people root more.

Singapore too. https://www.mom.gov.sg/-/media/mom/...nes-on-flexible-work-arrangement-requests.pdf

Yes.

There's a lot of hate for transgender people who overwhelmingly, in the main, pose no risk to anybody except right wing, conservative nutjobs that can't fathom a world that doesn't conform to their preconceived ideas on what a society should look like.

Their Christian tenets of tolerance, such as love thy neighbour, turning the other cheek and not casting the first stone unless thou is without, sin seem to have gone right out he window.
