1000% agree. Rather than train doctors here, because even after HECS it costs the government 100s of thousands of dollars, they pinch one from some third world country for free diminishing their human capital. It's fucking immoral. (Or engineers, scientists, nurses and teachers.)
Of course somebody here will say it's their choice whether they want to leave or not not and that's true but either way we shouldn't be a part of it.
As for immigration that's fine but they need to limit the amount of people they're bringing in to sustainable levels. For example you can't bring in 400 000 people in a year if you can only build 200 000 houses. If it's a one off, fine, but it's not.
200k houses short in year one means that we're a million homes short in 5 years. It's not rocket surgery to see how that's going to create a problem.
Despite calls from both parties to have a discussion about Australia's population goals nobody has stepped up to have a crack at what it could be. Do we want 50 million by 2050, 100 million?? What are we aiming for here? There seems to be no plan at all except bring them in because we're short fruit pickers, baristas, waiters and menial workers..
