A-League Women losing stars to 'unsustainable' part-time competition

This was always bound to happen. We expect the players to train, play and give the commitment of a professional, but don't reward them the same. It's not viable and not fair to them. Some of the female players I've met in the NPL level as well are quickly thrown to the side when the A-league players become available for selection. I've met so many female players who have 2nd jobs and can't really devote time to football because of the loss of finances. Some players will make it to bigger leagues and earn that pay packets to play professionally, but we will lose more than we retain.

Needs to be axed.

It's only hastening the financial demise of the ALM.

Agree that it’s a massive drain on the finances of the clubs but it will never be axed, that would be too politically incorrect, and we need a women’s league for the Matilda’s, although our best chance of winning the Womens’ WC was probably blown by TG in 2023…….

Maybe the fans should reach deeper into their pockets.

The fans need to stand up and support the girls! We got this! We can do it! The change starts here!
