When Australia was banned from fifa

My father took me to watch Prague even though he was Dutch. The Sydney competition was pretty strong with Hakoah,Apia,Pan Hellenic,Budapest ,Polonia,Yugal,Croatia,Melita representing the main ethnic communities.Bankstown,Auburn,Gladesville,Canterbury and South Coast United had Australian and British players mainly though the" ethnic" clubs also had plenty of British players, particularly from Scotland.

The first overseas team to visit following the lifting of the FIFA ban was Everton who had won the English title the previous season.A crowd of 55,000 turned up at the SCG to watch them beat a NSW team 5-1.NSW led 1 nil after a few minutes courtesy of a goal from Brian Smith,a bustling striker who played for Canterbury and later Pan Hellenic.

Ah the good ol' days.

I miss old mate Sammy selling the pumpkin seeds and peanuts in the shell at Wenty and ES Marks Field.

Don't forget the bloke selling the "Soccer World" paper which was printed on light green paper.
Also my old man used to spit the dummy about the referees wearing all white -referees should wear black as they did in Europe.
