I would rather have silence when we have nothing to actually write about than have pages of meaningless back and forth over nothings. At this point in the season we have a team undergoing rebuilding, a loss and a bye to talk about. Not much we can do other than wait and see how we go over the next few weeks - then we might see more discussion once we have something to even form opinions about.

Waz brought both information and experience to the forum and was a big loss to the forum and this thread when he left. I agree it would be great to see him back.

Did anyone participate in the online fan forum hosted by Simon Hill last week with Kaz? I couldn't tune in and have not heard how it went. Was good to see that they are still working to include fans.

I liked Struick when he came on, but noticed he did a lot of niggly grapples and clips in his short stint. Zadkovich's game plan or how he plays I wonder.

Shour is looking the goods and fills the DM role well.

I am having trouble with Warland and Van der Saag - they just don't seem up to it so far. Happy to hear otherwise from anyone who thinks I am being harsh.

Against Sydney we were able to create and score. Something we have struggled with quite frequently.

Our defence is exposed by skilful players too much for now though.

Freke had to make a couple of good saves to keep us in the game too.

Of the starters against Sydney - Freke, Bility, Brown, Burke-Gilroy, Shour, O'Shea and Jelacic all bring something. Waddingham can score (which is what he is there for) but is still working out his role. Halloran, Van der Saag and Warland are not working in the team yet. Can they?

Is Quinn Macnicol likely to get much game time? I know he is only 16yo but he's a player I'm really keen to see develop.

I can't say. He is certainly in the matchday squad to get chances. Thought we were going to see him last night but Struick came on and Waddingham stayed on.

I have seen a lot of striker's 'mentality' in MacNicols play in the little we have seen of him at senior level. He creates using his feet and body more than just a poacher style of striker. Also interested in seeing him develop.

He is not that quick off the mark and got caught flat a few times. He also did that lunge in and went to ground round the box that needed Shour to come back and defend the goal from.

I'm hoping that he will develop more into the role as he finds out that U23 methods and senior methods are different if that makes sense.

Just want to challenge you on that little piece of inpreciseness.

Brisbane Roar were founded in 2005 as Queensland Roar. And whilst Queensland Lions FC were awarded the franchise licence for the A League, Queensland's Roar were only derived from the Queensland Lions FC and their lineage of the initial Hollandia Inala Soccer Club.

But it is The Lions FC who are the directly descended club from Hollandia Inala Soccer Club and not the A League offshoot Brisbane Roar. Today Lions FC and Brisbane Roar are two completely different entities.

Similar in some ways to the way Liverpool FC were formed as an offshoot of neighbouring Everton FC.

Sorry but I'm a little pedantic on these little inaccuracies that some people put out.

[Edit: The history of the club according to the 'good enough for me' Wikipedia supports your facts, however we do have, in Wikipedia terms, 'a shared history with Queensland Lions FC' that I feel totally comfortable with.

We can legitimately claim the 1957 through our shared history despite diverging from Lions FC as we clearly have shared roots in that club. Lions FC took the aleague licence, pulled out of the State competition, and branded the new team Queensland Lions. That is a clear and direct path back to 1957 Hollandia Inala Soccer Club and good enough for me.

I see that question as 'who is the absolute direct descendant from my grandfather? Me or my father?'. Shared lineage and shared roots is shared and co-owned history. I do not have the same passion as you for that level of detail obviously - both can legitimately claim their roots in 1957 Hollandia Inala Soccer Club in my eyes.

I am sure there are others who share your view of what constitutes a founding date - not a thing for me though.

I think we have the squad for it too - but from the improvements I see from last season to now I am unusually optimistic about how far we can go.

We created enough chances to win that game - finishing was a bit off - but I actually had an expectation of goals during play when we worked our way forward well. That is a huge change from games where I could not see any way for the ball to end up in the net.
