A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 23 (+Rd 14)

That is a dire graph. That is a club without a future. Death spiral territory.
All they need to do is feed a smidgen of talent into the world football pool and make some coin from the sales and they have achieved their objective, including having their brand throughout the world. Whilst we might be askance at the poor crowds, they probably don't even register in the boardrooms where it counts.

Do you think the other a league owners care more though?

Auckland: they care but they are new
Adelaide: penny pinchers they had a chance to get first spot but they didn't invest in the January window
Brisbane: do I need to say about the bakeries?
Ccm:peil was doing good until he left now they are looking for new owners
MacArthur; they hate football and are a blight on the game
Victory: they care just run horribly
Newcastle: yes they care
Perth: they care
Wellington:they care
Wsw: they care
Western united: they care

So imo there's a few teams that's owners don't care about winning the league

My understanding is that the league is stepping in to address the issues with Melbourne city attendances.

They have four more home matches in the regular season. Now that the AFL is on, these attendances will only drop.

Big game against Glory on Saturday. This match could be the springboard that launches the seasonal campaign for one of us.

Interesting, how are they stepping in? Handing out flyers on street corners? 😂 Whatever it is, City need a massive reversal in attitude towards winning fans.

These clubs need need to start small and build. Find 2 high-school close to where you play and have players visit those schools every week. 2 players at a time which means every player goes to a school one hour in 6 weeks. It won't kill them but gives them roots in the community

You're missing Sydney FC in that summary.

Yeah, CFG already did that. They were absolutely everywhere and handing out free tickets to anyone who would take them. That's how they got the uptick in averages. Problem is it didn't really work. They added 1.5k to their averages, that's it. As soon as the freebies were gone, it was back to the 8k averages. Heart/City was always going to be a slow burn. MV was already a success both on and off the pitch so if someone was looking for an A-League club to follow, MV already ticked all the boxes. City need to be in a smaller venue, it's as simple as that. Then they will grow. It will still be slow, but as long as they are a top 4 side they will grow.

I'm hoping to get more information soon, but from what I've heard its overseeing their marketing strategies and commercial strategies, and potentially looking at providing assistance in getting some games in the southeast.

I'm not sure the league was wrapt to hear them publically say they want to extend their agreement at AAMI park.

Does this come back to the commencement of the A-league where victory was to be for the whole of Victoria rather than north/south/east/west etc?

Clear divide in Sydney hence why can build a decent rivalry.

Considering we won at Suncorp a few months back, how Brisbane are betting favourites is the biggest mystery I've ever seen.

We are at home, and much stronger than the previous meeting. For the first time all season, very confident we will win, prediction 2-0.

That average was grossly inflated by the then very well attended derbies.

Biggest cop out these type of comments.

Derbies have larger than regular attendances all over the world, in any sport.

In that case, we should take out mid week games/games where it there is torrential downpour etc from averages and so on....

At last some common sense spoken on average crowds.

I agree that derbies are not "inflating" the attendances,

but for those wondering we omitted them on our pod when analysing crowds to compare like with like (season isn't finished and teams have a different number of home derbies each year)
