70s through 90s right? There was 30 odd years of stability from 60s to 90s stability builds strength.
A stack of others from the peak days of the NSL.
Not the least, Paul Trimboli.
Trimboli, Okon, Zelic & Markovski, Are they that much better than Mooy, Rogic, Kruse Leckie & Luongo (all had very good careers in Europe) yeah Okon & lesser extent Zelic had the potential, but were not in the Kewell & Viduka class.A stack of others from the peak days of the NSL.

Some of the changes are easy to track. The a league reduced the number of pro positions in Australia and meant clubs at the top didn't have underage teams, then the ais got defunded in 2015 (collapsing 2 years later) after failing to qualify for 2 successive olympics, then we the nyl season dropped from 100 odd games to 40 odd shared between 10 clubs. So the whole generation born 1995-2000 are a step down from the already lower quality a league era players and those, unfortunately are those that should be in their prime and making the bulk of the roos
then you have the ntc and a league academies starting to kick in perhaps for those born 2003 onwards and there does seem to be a big jump up in quality, but still below those born 75-80. Curious what would happen if we brought the nyl back and an ais...
While I agree to some extent to the drop in standards, the other issue is the change in football, many here complain that Scottish football is more hoffball & more direct, this was the EPL in the 90s & early 2000s.70s through 90s right?

New dawn journo's who know no better.Every kid that shows potential is called the new Kewell or new Viduka, never have I heard a player called the new Trimboli or new Markovski.
Haha. I'll ask my football loving English brother in laws (lives in England) who were better Kewell & Dukes or Timmers & Markovski?New dawn journo's who know no better.
Thats because you refuse to slum it down in the NPL mate ... hahahahahahaha ALL the youngsters wanna be the next Trimmers down here...While I agree to some extent to the drop in standards, the other issue is the change in football, many here complain that Scottish football is more hoffball & more direct, this was the EPL in the 90s & early 2000s.
Look at the EPL sides, the British type players are getting less & less in the EPL, football is a lot more about skill than it was in the 90s & 2000s.
I stand by my original statement, we have not produced too many players with the technical skill level of Kewell & Viduka.

I watched Trimmers play, he was good, but no he was not Mark Viduka.Thats because you refuse to slum it down in the NPL mate ... hahahahahahaha ALL the youngsters wanna be the next Trimmers down here...
In all seriousness, totally different type of #9 mate...I watched Trimmers play, he was good, but no he was not Mark Viduka.
I think all the remaining matches are winnable, but I'm not expecting that to happen as all of them are also loseable. I don't think there are any easy games in this group and their is not much between the teams (apart from Japan). I really think we need 6 points this window to put us in a strong position for 2nd, 4 points will see us with a chance of second and a strong position to stay alive, and less than that could see us struggling to stay alive.I honestly think we should win with that team. But it won't be as comfortable as it should be, and it won't be pretty.
They'll probably say Danny Mills.Haha. I'll ask my football loving English brother in laws (lives in England) who were better Kewell & Dukes or Timmers & Markovski?
Kewell is a very different player to Dukes, but they both are without doubt the most highly skilled technicians Australia ever had.In all seriousness, totally different type of #9 mate...
Yes they probably would, I used same argument with them in regards to Glenn Hoddle over Byran Robson. They preferred Robson & I was always a Hoddle fan. He had far greater skills. They'll probably say Danny Mills.
I agree all 3 players had huge potential to play in Europe, but I would argue that none of those players would have been a star for a big club like Kewell & Dukes were at Leeds. They made the semis of the champions league (European cup) with Leeds & were leading players.I usually don't side with vo2Max but Trimboli and Markovski were quality players, the cream of the NSL.It was a pity they never played in Europe .I still rate Kewell as the best Australian player-before injuries blighted his career he had the pace and the technical qualities to be among the top EPL players.Viduka also was technically adept and was tremendously strong.
Trimboli was a different player to Viduka-he was more reliant on his quickness of thought, fast feet and ability to sniff out a goal scoring opportunity.
Another very skilful player who could have been a success overseas was Oscar Crino.
But you need to take into account that english fans are a bit deluded.Yes they probably would, I used same argument with them in regards to Glenn Hoddle over Byran Robson. They preferred Robson & I was always a Hoddle fan. He had far greater skills.
At least Mills is better known than Trimmers & Markovski in the world of football.
